I think that would be the best solution for you. There should still be more internal volume in the 3.5 manifold vs. the Type I, so you'd see the gains where you'd feel it the most.

I'd recommend the MagnaFlow 14325, and that you leave the cat alone. Cat-back piping and this muffler is a good combo.
