It's about 6 hours from Hagerstown which is where I am tomorrow morning. I don't mind, have a brand new 300 for a rental, very smooth!

ATL for a couple days later this week.

Should be there just long enough to get robbed and join a gang.

Ravi, if you were just a little closer to the ALT --> CLT route, I'd divert and buy you lunch.

Coming home through Boston yesterday, I got to within 15 minutes of the airport (at that time about 30 minutes ahead of schedule - plenty of time) and traffic came to a halt. The next 5 or 6 miles took 2 hours. Missed my flight, no later flights avail for that ticket.

Found another airline with a flight from BOS --> IAD --> CLT. Booked that. Got home about midnight.

Off to Cinn tomorrow for the week. Should be home by midnight next Friday too.

Yeah - not sure what happened yesterday afternoon, but the news showed a map of all the traffic and every major road around Boston was backed up and jammed with traffic. Maybe everyone getting a jump on the weekend and enjoying the great weather Never seen that before.

I know the Romney Bus Tour was in NH yesterday. Wondered if they came through Boston and created some backup.

I know Boston traffic can be pretty bad, but I've never been delayed like that. I allowed an extra 30 - 45 minutes, which would be about what I'd normally do. AND I should have been against traffic for the most part since I was approaching from the north (NH).

. Glad I found an alternate flight; not glad I wasted/lost a few hundred bucks on the un-used ticket. Whatever, if you travel a lot, stuff happens. Just roll with it.

It's also the end of Bike Week in NH as well. Not sure if that had anything to do with it, but it could be Romney as well.

Let's see, since my last check-in, I've been had a week in Cincinnati, a 2-day road trip around NC and a couple days in Chicago.

Home this week.

Tennessee next week. That's a road trip.

I'm in Arlington, VA now for some training. Except, I'm a day early. Just relaxing. This should be an easy week.

My goal is to be in by Thursday evening.

I have a couple quick questions for the frequent travelers.

Do any of you travel with several computers? What methods do you use? I’ll have 2 computers + carry-on luggage. I think I’ll put my work computer in the carry on and take it out if/when I have to gate check it.
I want to take my personal computer along so I can watch movies on Amazon Prime, Skype (as necessary) and watch youtube vids… Basically all the shit my work computer blocks.

Any favorite pieces of luggage? Looking for something which I can use for 4 days (Sunday evening through Thursday)

I have a computer bag that opens all the way. You can keep your laptop in one of those as long as it opens flat. You're eventually going to discover 2 things....

1. Carrying 2 computers suck.
2. Most hotels have bars so you don't have to sit in your room and Skype / download porn on your personal computer.

As for luggage I have two basic American Tourister carry on's. One is smaller and will fit a pair of shoes as well as 2 full days worth of clothes. They other expands and will fit 1-2 pairs of shoes as well as 3-5 days worth of clothes. Both fit in almost all over heads with the exception of small jets which nothing fits in.

Also....sign up for every rewards plan you can. It takes a little time but it saves you a ton in the long run. Just an example, I traveled with a rep a couple months ago that just booked a rental car. It took him 20 minutes to got through the line. It takes me 5 minute tops with Budget Fastbreak or Hertz Gold.

I'm flying into BNA in the morning and driving up to BG. Back home on Thursday evening. I may head back to Nashville for the night if I decide not to go to the plant on Thursday. Depends on what all I get done tomorrow.

I used to carry 2 computers. I dont fly; I'm always on the road. Still, carrying a personal computer is very taxing with the bulk, packing, and having something extra to deal with. I bought my first Ipad (1G) to solve that problem. Buy a tablet if you are only going to be watching videos and surfing the web. I use my work computer for word processing when needed.

Also, as previously noted, sign up for all the rewards programs you can. Hotels frequently run promotions to get to certain statuses (sp) quicker and to amass points for free rooms and/or points. Plus, with certain stati (sp ), you get room upgrades and access to concierge lounges (re: free food, snacks, and soft drinks). Also, get a credit card with great rewards programs. Points add up faster that way.

For luggage, make sure you have either 1. a rolling duffle for shorter trips and/or 2. a luggage bag that has four wheels, so you can pull it in the upright position.

If your traveling a lot there's look at Amex platinum card, it gets you into most executive airport lounges, and priority lines. Also check out the nexus program or look for similar which has a separate line for card holders at security. Even on the busiest days I'm through security in 5 min thanks to that bad boy.

Agreed, they look stupid as well. I have a carry on that I can get 2 paid of shoes in and about 5 days worth of clothes. Then a simple messenger style laptop bag that can slide over the handle to the carry on.

Why carry two computers? Run your personal computer in a virtual machine on the company laptop. There is no risk of data contamination -- and especially if you keep the virtual machine image on an external USB HDD.

Man....today will not end. I have no clue when I will get out of the plant tonight and no idea what to have for dinner. Usually I got to a local sports bar when I am in town but I'm just too tired tonight.
