In April, going to have a 12hr layover overnight in TPE (Taipei airport). Looks like Novotel is the closest to the airport. Plaza Premium Lounge does have twin bed relaxation suites...but Priority Pass doesn't cover it and they charge $200 for 12hrs!! Might just use my chase pts and book a night at Novotel.

Then going to SGN to attend friend's wedding over there in Ho Chi Minh City. Should be a fun time, 1st time in vietnam.
Likely do a airbnb at beginning and then end with a luxury hotel (looking at Park Hyatt Saigon). They are doing a 3-day tour to Da Nang which we'll likely join.

Just FYI. There is subway (MRT) that will take you directly to the City from TPE. it is like $3 USD... takes about 30 mins to Taipei Main Station.
I personally would just find a hotel around Taipei station and it will be better and you can actually enjoy your layover. Unless you arrive at mid night and fly out in the morning, then everything is closed anyway. Just stay at the airport

Nice, thanks for the info! Always good idea to stay next to major transport hubs

Yeah we arrive at around 7pm and next AM flight is 730am. So should still have some time to do a bit of night life....

Heading to Manchester tomorrow. I am going to miss some epic cold on Wednesday... forecast is for a high of -15. And yes that is Fahrenheit.

Heading to New Orleans for an overnight. Business, so I'll see the inside of a meeting room, two or three nice restaurants, and my hotel.

I'm going to NO later this year. The town is vastly over rated. Avoid Bourbon St.

There's great little gems here and there (food especially ) I swear my wife and I just ate and ate and ate when we were down there (and walked too since we decided not to rent a car and just ubered to and from the airport).

Let me know if you need restaurant reccos

I went to a pretty swanky restaurant last time and it was awesome. Tableau, next to Jackson Square.

I heard advice for NO from someone who grew up there (unfortunately after we visited). Visit the French District during the day, not at night. For something to at night, check out the jazz clubs downtown.

Is there a cruise thread? I don't know jack about them. Should I use a site or go directly to the cruiseline? Carnival is bad right? Trying to go to Europe later this year preferably Italy and either Adriatic or west side towards Spain. I'm fine going Sept/Oct so it's cheaper.

Carnival is shit. Royal Caribbean is your best bet from Miami I believe. I don't have any feedback for Norwegian Cruise line.

My parents did a River cruise with Viking I believe. I think the course was Munich to Budapest via the Danube River. The boats are a lot narrower, so everyone gets a balcony, and land is always right there, dotted with great buildings. They enjoyed it a lot.

Don’t have any accounts of Euro sea cruises besides crossing the Staight of Gibraltar. I can confirm day trip glacier cruises from Anchorage are badass.

I went on a Viking cruise a few years ago. Went from Amsterdam to Switzerland.

Ill just say for your age, you’re a bit young for their target demographic.
