how long did it take you to get used to it? I have always wanted to drive in Japan but scared due to not knowing the signs and rules.

Unfortuantely no. My only company travel perk is tons of rental car days while im out here working in HI. Not much hotel stays. I do very mild credit card bonus/churning game, I would sign up for a hotel rewards CC but mostly just getting air miles/chase pts. Though I'll have to see if chase pts can transfer to a marriott program......

I do have like 200k Chase UR points though. 1 night at that SkyCity Marriott is about 20k pts with breakfast, not too bad....seems like HKG in general is a more expensive city for hotels (no surprise there...)

Chase UR does indeed transfer to Marriott Rewards but generally it's a waste of points in my opinion.. It's a 1:1 transfer and takes 2 days to clear and UR is typically valued at 2cents per point.. AT 20K UR that means if the hotel stay is $400 or more , then it's a worthwhile splurge, if not, just pay cash.

Amex Plat gives you SPG Gold (which is now Marriott gold) don't know if you have one yet.

If you don't want to use cash, 20K MR is a pretty good redemption for a full service Marriott, I don't think I've ever seen a US Marriott for that redemption price. So i'd say go for it!

I have Amex plat. How do i get SPG gold?

I have never joined any hotel chain clubs things... i dont like to be tied down on my hotel choices because of the points. But what benefit do i get for SPG gold?

Took maybe a day or 2. Itís pretty easy to do. Just gotta make sure you have an international driving permit. I think AAA is the only place that issues them.

Yeah my next CC would likely be the Amex Plat. I've got the chase sapphire reserve and the perks are nice but the Amex Plat with the centurion lounge and having marriott gold sounds nice!!

Funniest thing during the process was when the guy asked me this.

”Do you know what Initial D is? Yea please don’t do that with our cars”

Man that's nice. I'll need to look into that next time I'm in japan. how much was it per day?

We did a honeymoon and we rented a car for 3 days driving around Hokkaido, just did a real cheap one (only cost like a few thousand chase points, for 3 days, lol).

So i called Amex... apparently Corp. platinum and personal platinum have different benefits.

I have the Corp one and they upgraded me to Hilton Gold, but not SPG.

I can't remember the last time i stayed at one of Hilton's hotels .. oh well, better than nothing.

The R34 GTR was expensive at $300/day.

other cars are cheaper.

also Japan rapes you on toll and gas.

we only drove like 700 miles and the toll cost about $300.

Gas was like $4 per litre I think the total was like $300 as well.

They do have special ETC cards for the toll roads and have unlimited use for a flat fee for up to a certain amount of days. But I found that out after coming home

well i got the Capital one Venture for travels for 2 main reasons: #1 no foreign transaction fee, which is a big deal to me. #2, i don't like restrictions on airlines. i am i usually buy what is the cheapest, not base on alliance. I believe the annual fee is also lower than Chase.

Since i already have the Amex for lounges (Centurion, Delta and PP).

I think Chase sapphire also gives you access to PP lounges right?

Thanks again thoiboi.

I used my Cap 1 Plat overseas. No foreign fees and not having to report travel was nice plus I got cash back though only 1.5% thus the want of a thread.

Been a while since I posted.

Heading to Jacksonville FL today for a couple days then on to Des Moines. Full week but with any luck it will be the end of business travel for the year for me unless I have to go to Mexico next week. I'll end the year with 152 flights on AA and another dozen or so on Southwest. I cashed in points this year for a total of 6 trips for my wife and I, and other family members and it barely scratched the surface. I need to start using my miles. Same with Hotel.

Flying back to SFO from SNA.

hope I get bumped to 1st class again.
The free booze came in handy for NYE pregaming

alaska was actually asking for volunteers to (if needed) take a later flight and get paid at least $250.

wouldve taken it but there are no more later flights out of SNA cause of the curfew and I gotta be at work tomorrow

Vegas is a desert, after all. Extremes in either direction depending on the season.

What kind of airport has a golf resort on it? Can't believe you spotted the orange nutsack there.

I have taken BR15 numerous times in the past, i apologize to the flight attendants on behalf of people in LA
If you are 440lbs, you have no business sitting in the economy class.

(CNN)A Taiwanese airline says it may ban an overweight passenger who allegedly forced members of an all-female cabin crew to undress him in the lavatory and then clean him after he used the toilet.

The incident, first posted on social media by a flight attendant and some passengers, has caused uproar in Taiwan and across parts of Asia, sparking debate about what some see as the overly pro-customer corporate culture of many Asian firms in service sectors.
At a press conference in Taipei on Monday, one of the flight attendants involved tearfully recounted her traumatizing experience on EVA Air Flight 15, which took off from Los Angeles last Thursday.
The passenger, a Caucasian man who appears to weigh over 200 kilograms (440 pounds), boarded the Taipei-bound flight in a wheelchair and was seated in the economy cabin. Two and a half hours into the 14-hour journey, he asked to use the business class lavatory, according to the flight attendant, who declined to be named. The airline has not released the name of the passenger.

After the flight attendant and two colleagues helped him into the lavatory, the man allegedly demanded she pull down his underwear, insisting that he was unable to do so because of surgery to his right hand. The flight attendant said she eventually agreed, albeit reluctantly, but the man slapped her wrist when she tried to cover his exposed genitals with a blanket.
Claiming he found it difficult to breathe, the man wanted the lavatory door left open -- a request that was refused, the flight attendant said. He then allegedly asked the cabin crew to help wipe his backside for him.Calls to ban passenger

Faced with threats that he would refuse to leave the lavatory, the flight attendant told reporters she had to prop up the man -- four times her weight -- from the front as a co-worker cleaned him.
"I'll never forget that moment: With his feces still in the toilet, I had nowhere to escape," she said.
"Now every time I'm forced to relive what happened in my mind, I feel traumatized."

Many social media users have called for the "disgusting" passenger to be barred from flying or prosecuted for alleged sexual harassment.
Supporters of the cabin crew have also blamed the corporate culture of many Asian service-sector companies that insist the "customer is always right" while, according to critics, ignoring employees' welfare -- especially after it was revealed the passenger appeared to be a repeat offender.

At the Monday press conference, the flight attendant was accompanied by a representative of the local flight attendants' union and fellow EVA employee. The union representative told reporters the man had flown EVA from the US to Asia numerous times. He had defecated in his seat during a flight last May after the crew rejected his demands, causing a foul smell in the entire cabin for over 10 hours, the representative said.
Another union representative said the passenger's behavior should be considered sexual harassment.EVA, which is known for hiring only female flight attendants, defended its treatment of the passenger in a press statement Monday, saying he had flown with the airline more than 20 times and mostly without incident.
Expressing its "sincere gratitude" to the cabin crew for their actions during his latest trip, the airline pledged to further investigate the passenger and explore options -- ranging from placing him on a "no-fly" list to requiring someone to accompany him on flights. The company denied it had punished flight attendants for rejecting similar customer demands in the past.

Holy shit. Fuck that guy! Wipe with your left hand asshole.

It takes a certain person to perform those kinds of services. Basically you know you'll be doing it when you sign up for the job. Poor girl didn't think it would come to that.

Does he require someone to do that for him every time?

When he goes to work does he ask a coworker to get the peanut butter out of the shag carpet?

Entitled jerk.

+1, Costco.

The EVA attendants were badass when I flew in 2011. Never asked for money for any of the 6+ beers on the way there.
