Anyone read the Vanity Fair article how they're scared they are catching up to the books I hope Martin doesn't fuck it up at the end. Also it was announced they renewed for seasons 5 AND 6.

HBO has been pushing GRRM for a while now. Because they are making the show faster than he writes new books.

I imagine he will have it all done and ready to go when the next book is released. And then will release the last book or whatever later.

FYI per the Vanity Fair article, the creators don't want to go longer than 7 seasons.

Five now plus two more on the way equals seven. But two tv seasons for one book will make seven total tough...

Huh.

That was wholly unsatisfying. But I guess he went out like the bitch that he was.

The book was equally un satisfying - you'd hope for it to be something as horrible as what he'd done or had done to others but GRRM let him off easy

I'd have preferred he spend a long time a Ramsey's play-thing. But this will do.

That was amazing! I disagree with those that think it was unsatisfying. The problem is that he's been such a horrible asshole to everyone for so long that there's no vengeful death that would do his douchiness justice. Choking on pie (or poisoned by it/wine) at his own wedding in front of everybody was utterly humiliating and fucking perfect.

Do you think the birds or pie was poisoned? They showed the bird cut in half for a reason when he chopped it.

Also doesn't it seem kind of obvious that it was the dude that followed Sansa last week and helped her escape this week? Is that a smokescreen for a hidden assassin like Prince Oberyon or someone else.

Pretty sure it was the wine.

Also this episode was written by GRRM himself.

lol how could they be sure that bird would have been killed? I think it's supposed to be symbolic of what's to come.

And I don't necessarily think it was that guy, though he may be in on it. Literally everyone has good reason to have done this, so I have no clue. My roommate who read the books said that there's a good hint in the episode... Hmmm!

I think it was very well done how they left it open to a bunch of different possibilities. Could have been the pie or the wine, and when you look at how many people came into contact with both it could be just about anyone. No shortage of people with motive or access. I suspect revealing the true killer will be a long, drawn out process.

The one thing that stood out was the "fool" who was trying to get Sansa out of there before Joffrey bit the dust. So the one thing we know is that he had knowledge of what was going to happen. The question is who did that knowledge come from...even the "fool" had a motive and access for that matter....

I dunno... torrent?

BTW! If you notice when grandma
Tyrell comes and says hello to Sansa at the table, she leans in, and ninja style pulls one of the jewel/pendants off. The necklace was given to her by Dontos (the fool).

Close GRRM!

Great episode. Glad that D-bag is dead. I think it was the pie and that the fool had something to do with it.

Lol. You guys aren't very good at observing.

Twas the wine. Twas a Tyrell. Twas the fool.

Seriously grannie Tyrell lifts a 'dark crystal' off of Sansa's necklace given to her by the fool. This was the poison.

The odd thing though is that only three people touched the douches chalice. In order: Sansa, Tyrion, Margery. So unless grannie slipped the poison in and we were never shown, it was Margery herself.

So who is in charge now? Is Margery queen and sole ruler since Joffrey didn't have an heir? Is not official until they consummate? Does power transfer to the Hand? When King Rob B died, Cersei didn't rule, their oldest son did, Joffrey. How's that work now?

Cersei became Queen Regent when Robert died but Joffrey was the heir and was old enough so he had absolute power. Then for a short time she was nothing.

Now Tommen, Joffrey's younger brother, will technically take control. Making Cersei Queen Regent again. As well as his grandfather Tywin being his Hand.

If you saw the previews for next week you would have seen Margery scoffing at her grandmother Olenna saying something like "...I could have been Queen!..." Said in a manner which implies she was the one who poisoned the King or at least put it in motion.

I believe so. Funny you hadn't really heard or seen any of the other children in a long while. Yet Tommen was right there at the wedding and was shown quite a bit.

Probably by design. They speak about Cersei's daughter more since she was shipped off than actually show her.

My wife made a good argument that Cersei herself could have been behind it.

She was about to lose everything - her power, she would have to marry someone she didn't want, and was about to fade away and become irrelevant. She's way too power hungry to let that happen. I also noticed that the wine that Tyrion poured was right in front of Cersei.

So, she kills a lot of birds with one stone. She blocks Margery (who she hates), she retains her status, she screws Tyrion (which she always enjoys). I recall in earlier episodes she was complaining about how bad a king Joffrey had turned out to be....

Seems feasible. But man who would she hire. Everyone has a big mouth there. Plus how would she get the poison into the wine (if it were the wine).
