Television: Better Call Saul

Hope it doesn't suck
AMC to debut 'Better Call Saul' with two-night event | Inside TV | EW.com
Better clear your calendar: AMC has given Better Call Saul a debut date. On Feb. 8 at 10 p.m., the network will unveil the first episode of the Breaking Bad spin-off featuring Bob Odenkirk’s Saul Goodman, the not-so-virtuous lawyer employed by meth king Walter White (Bryan Cranston). The following night at 10 p.m., the second episode will be unspooled. Subsequent episodes will air in the show’s regular Mondays-at-10-p.m. slot.

Created and executive-produced by Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan and co-executive producer Peter Gould, the hour-long show will chronicle the exploits of James McGill—who would later take the name Saul Goodman—before he teamed up with Walt, starting in 2002. The cast also includes Breaking Bad vet Jonathan Banks, Michael McKean, Patrick Fabian, Rhea Seehorn, and Michael Mando.

Back in June, AMC announced that the 10-episode first season would launch in February, three months later than originally planned, and that it had already ordered a second season of Saul that is slated to hit the air in 2016.

Just started the last season. My fear is that Netflix drops it before I finish.

Unless Heisenberg has a history of raping young starlets, I think you'll be fine.

I think this show will do about as good as Joey.. 3 seasons ain't bad.

Definitely excited to watch it.

My only comment from my wife was "why so many commercials?"

I think I agree. AMC seems to drop to commercial a lot.

I'm not sure if my wife likes the Saul character so we will see if we continue to watch it or not. My Tivo is picking it up so the worst case is I watch it myself.

A lot of other good shows starting up soon like House of Cards and Game of Thrones. Something has to give as I don't have a lot of time to watch TV.

Yeah it's why I shy away from AMC live. Easily can watch later and no commercials.

Yep that's what we do for AMC as well. If we want to watch the show "now" we just postpone starting 20 minutes or so and by the time we catch up the show is over.

I liked it, I think they are setting the show up very well, and to unfold meticulously

"You work for man who has sex with cut off head".

Definitely has a Breaking Bad feel to it (from a production standpoint). Not surprising. It was a slow episode, but if it follows the pattern of Breaking Bad, a show like this has a lot of plot threads and characters that need to be developed before it gets really rolling. Picked up towards the end though. I think it has potential.

And Michael McKean (a.k.a. David St. Hubbins) FTW!

I'm liking it so far. Saul yelling at the cops in the parking lot was laugh out loud funny

One more observation - I wasn't sure that Saul was a big enough character to carry a series, but now I can see it. Looking forward to seeing episode 2.

Yeah if you can watch the first 2 episodes back to back it's better.

So it's Wednesday - how long do we have to wait before we talk about it?
