I had to replace a 2x8' section in a closet earlier this year.

For a full room where you're hefting full 4' sheets, a helper would be good, or making some sort of contraption to assist you and hold the sheet in place while you screw. Otherwise, it's basically the same as a wall: place, screw, tape, spackle, texture, paint.

You're just working over your head which can be a literal pain in the neck.

If all your helpers are only Class 2 certified and therefore not allowed on the job site, take a look at one of these:

https://www.harborfreight.com/drywal...ift-62484.html

You might even be able to rent something from HD or a local tool rental place.

This is either going not at all, or exactly like, how gatr thought it would when he asked the question. Both ways I chuckle sensibly.

My fall back plan is to install the drywall myself. I can rent a hoist for $25, buy the 5/8" thick drywall myself, and tape up the seams myself.

Apparently this was my 32,000th post on here.

Why 5/8" drywall? Use 1/2". It's a ceiling.
IIRC it's ~13 lb difference between 5/8 and 1/2
