Scientists want to build HALO!!!

http://www.livescience.com/technolog..._solution.html

A wild idea to combat global warming suggests creating an artificial ring of small particles or spacecrafts around Earth to shade the tropics and moderate climate extremes.

There would be side effects, proponents admit. An effective sunlight-scattering particle ring would illuminate our night sky as much as the full Moon, for example.

And the price tag would knock the socks off even a big-budget agency like NASA: $6 trillion to $200 trillion for the particle approach. Deploying tiny spacecraft would come at a relative bargain: a mere $500 billion tops.

But the idea, detailed today in the online version of the journal Acta Astronautica, illustrates that climate change can be battled with new technologies, according to one scientist not involved in the new work.

^^ Is this HALO?

And that right there has the potential to cause a lot of harm. Most plant life is sensative to the normal light/dark cycles of it's native environment. If the terrestrial plant life and oceanic algae didn't adapt well, you could potentially loose a good chunk of the Earth's O2 producers.

All this global warming crap..

Yes its TRUE. BUT.... the world was HOTTER 1000 years ago, there is much proof of this and I'm inclined to believe that mankind hardly puts a dent in the big picture. There have been three periods in recorded history of global warming..

1st century AD

12th century

1850 to present

We'll survive just fine, we just need to adapt. No need to spend TRILLIONS of dollars on frivolous projects that probably wont work anyway. We'd be better off spending the money on irrigation, resettlement, desalinisation plants, clean nuclear power etc.
