If you were to win, can you keep your name private? I remember the last few winners, there names were made public.

If you're taking home more than 200 million why make it public? I'd be scared shitless of how many people who stalk me or stalk my family to get some of the pie. For anyone who gets THAT lucky and wins it here's a good way to handle the money:

Delaware, Kansas, Maryland, North Dakota, Ohio and South Carolina still allow winners to remain anonymous.

Most states publishes name public...only some states allow anonymous as poster already mentioned

I mean it is good to keep integrity of the game in the end

Yeah I think the best way to do it is what that reddit thread said and hire a well-known firm handle the money and pay a fee to them to keep your name private.

1 in 292.2 million chance. What a sucker bet.

I never play the lottery, but I'm going to get a ticket. It's all luck, so one ticket is as good a 10 with those odds.

I think this will hit at least $1.4 billion on Wednesday when people find out how much it is now. The larger the jackpot, the more people buy because they don't want to miss out. FOMO. And the more people who buy, they more that individual will spend on tickets.

On the news, they were showing the long line outside a supposed "lucky" liquor store and interviewing people. There were people who were playing for the 1st time. And those who have played before were spending more than they normally did. They showed a lady spending $60-$80. You'll also get new lottery pools starting up at work for this, or more people getting in on the weekly lottery pools at work.

1.4 billion by Wednesday?? an increase of 100 million?

Shit jumped from 700 million to 949.8 million the last time. I think it'll hit 1.68 this time.

I wonder if multi-millionaires are playing. They could purchase tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of tickets and it'd be like a day in Vegas to them. With the prospect of winning close to a billion dollars, I wouldn't doubt it. Or maybe they're laughing at us all.

But one thing is for very likely...they didn't become millionaires by buying lotto tickets!!!

.....unless they were actual past jackpot winners..in which case those guys probably are spending hundreds on lotto tickets.

I honestly don't see much truly wealthy (like hundreds of millions in networth to billionaires) buying any tickets.

Lotto company should just tell companies to post a "billion" sign over the million text and push out 1.3

You guys are doing it all wrong. Like, seriously.

there's a chance of 1 in 292,200,000, right?

And buying 1 chance costs $2, right?

so buy all 292,200,000 chances, which ends up costing you $584,400,000. Pocket the rest.

You're instantly 806M (estimated payout)-584.4M = 221.6M richer. Voila!

Except you'll have to pay 40%+ in taxes out of that 806M....so you'll be left with about 483M.......unless you can work some magic IRS voodoo to get 0% taxes. Maybe immediately elect Ron Paul before winnings on Wed and abolish the IRS!!!

I thought you pay 40% of the total 1.3 Billion, to be left with 806M... no?
