I figure it'll retail for about $2k once it first comes out. I prefer the metal band.

This one is more in my range.

Buttons on the left side would take some getting used to. I've seen these go for just under $1k on ebay.

Call me cynical, but I have a hard time believing that the Breitling Evolution or Tourneau Gotham Onyx Khrome Limited Edition are real.

I own a Breitling Chronomat, and I have never seen a Breitling Evolution with a mother of pearl dial and diamond hour markers WITHOUT the diamond bezel as well.. I am not familiar with Tourneau so I cannot speak to what makes me think it's a fake. But that watch retails for almost $7,000 and I just have a hard time believing at age 23 that watch is yours.

I apologize if my suspicions are wrong.

Something seems "off" on the bracelet of the Breitling too.

But I may be wrong, I'm not a connoisseur

edit:
that's the way they look I guess. I had to look at the website

The bracelet looks okay, it's just streched out a bit from use. It's the bezel that doesn't seem right...

Real or not, anyone who doesn't know the difference between 'here' and 'hear' has no business wearing a $7,000 watch.

I really like your Omega I saw in another thread you just got it. They are a GREAT value for the $$$. I haven't bought one they always look weird on my wrist.

As far as getting a Panny, have you ever considered getting a preowned one? You can score a great deal if you look in the right place.

A few of my friends collect timepieces and often, getting them second hand is the way to go.

Yes i tried to look for a preowned one before buying the Omega. But the resale on them is nutty. I searched ebay and even watch forums but most were selling close to retail price.

Really. There is a guy out in Japan who deals in used watches...I'll look him up later if you are really interested. Good pricing and if you really wanted the Planet Ocean, probably could've gotten one used from him. Let me know.

I'll keep my eye out for a decent deal. The bracelet style also effects the price tremendously. So I am not sure if you are looking to purchase one with the steel bracelet or not. Personally I really like the black rubber diving band that Panerai offers, which is good because it is the least expensive.

BTW... Does your watch case have watch winders at the top or does it just look that way. If so you should switch out some of your watches at the top and at least put the Omega and the Raymond Weil on the winders.

EDIT: Panerai also makes their watches in Titanium style as well which I should have mentioned...

IMO, it's really all comes down to preference and what purpose the watch will be serving.

For example Panerai makes a rubber watch band, but I would never take one diving due to the fact that it is a big watch and thus is a little more susceptible to getting beat up. The Rolex Submariner is the quintessential diving watch and it only comes steel or gold. Breitling makes a fine rubber band as well.

I also don't really like putting aftermarket bands on my watches, if I want a different look I will spend the extra $$$ to get a band from the manufacturer. Some people disagree with this, but its whatever you're comfortable with.

Also if it is a watch you are going to be wearing on more formal occasions then the rubber is completely out of place. Where as stainless tends to be more versatile, wearable for formal or casual occasions.

If you don't like watches with a metal bracelet, a fine leather or crocodile skin band looks fantastic with almost any watch. In fact some of the finest watches in the world, ie. Patak Phillipe, Brueguet and Vacheron Constantine are almost exclusively seen with some sort of animal skin band.

Steel bands for me. They don't wear down except for scratches, they look more classy, don't stick to the skin, and they don't ever smell.

I think the band is all preference. I like rubber the best, followed by leather. I dislike metal banded watches, haven't worn one in probably ten years.

They're real and I bought them both myself except for the Tag. I received it as a gift. I wouldn't take the time to post them on here otherwise. No offense taken so no need to apologize.

I bought the Breitling at the Tourneau in Caesar's Palace and the Gotham at the Tourneau in Scottsdale. As for the Breitling, they had the exact watch w/ a diamond bezel, but it was about $2k more. The diamond bezel definitely made it look too flashy.

Ugh, typo on my part. It was getting late when I took the pics and posted them up so I apologize. Guess proof reading would help...

Thanks for the replies, guys...Well, here's my next question: the Tag Heuer Carrera Automatic (black face) comes in both steel or rubber band--for the same price.

Which would you guys go for?

Have you tried both on?

The steel IMO gives it a classy, upscale look. The problems I've had with rubber/leather band in the past is that your wrist gets sweaty when it's hot out. It's really going to come down to what you prefer though...

And honestly, I'm fine with both...but, how versatile is a rubber band versus steel...esp. when it comes to dressier affairs? Does it work with a suit?

IMO, Rubber does not work well with a suit. Buy the version with the steel band, you can always pick up a rubber strap later on.

One thing about metal bands: If you take the watch off, you will really miss it due to the weight. Also rubber or leather bands will seem very light and cheap feeling in comparison if you go back and forth.

I'm not a huge Tag fan anyway, not to say they don't make good watches. I just think there are better watches to be had for that kind of $$$

The Carrera is a "newer" model so finding them preowned may be difficult.

I second that. Can't go wrong with picking up a rubber strap later on. That way you can wear the watch with the rubber strap and get it switched over to a steel band if you have an important occasion. Might be a pita, but it's worth it.

Anything bigger than about 40mm looks kind of silly on me, but I think I have small wrists. Have you ever looked at the company Bell & Ross. They have a 46mm watch that I just love...

I want an IWC as my next watch...
