Yummy? Not exactly new, but I looked back to see if any of us mentioned it and it seems like we missed it back in November

LOL, I think one of us did post it awhile back. And yeah, not paying that much for that.

And TBH, I'm slowly retiring from my gokin/robot-hoarding days...got too much.

I have to say I am shocked you won't be shelling out for that thing. It combines two things you like together.

Are you retiring from gokin/robot hoarding to focus on watch hoarding instead?

Naw, sir. 1100 gokins to-date has put a...staggering reality that I just do not have space to display all of it. And well, I could save the $$ for something else. Or earlier retirement.

The watch + optimus is ~500 if you check around
Just the optimus figure alone (-watch) is ~170

Question about buying a new watch strap. I have a watch where the opening is exactly 22mm. Do you get a 22mm band, or 20mm to leave some room?

It's going to be a rubber or rubber/fabric band.

go 22. 1mm gap on each side sounds small, but it'll look huge given a watches proportion if you put a 20mm strap on it.

Famously, Sean Connery's James Bond wore a Submariner (with 20mm lugs) with an 18mm strap, and some Bond super fans do that, but honestly I think it looks dumb, and allegedly, the only reason the movie(s) did it is because they couldn't find a properly fitted NATO strap.

^ Thank you! I just wanted to make sure I got a proper fit. I've been stalking that Hirsch band from a few pages back. I have a plain silver Victorinox and I thought that band might jazz it up. Nothing fancy of course but it's a sentimental piece - was a gift from my parents 25+ years ago for my first "grown up" watch.

And Lol about the Bond fans re-creating the gap. I'd likely have never noticed let alone thought to re-create it.

You have 1100 robot figurines

Does that take up an entire room of the house?

I think the point of them is to not have you change the strap

I have a few Pateks that are 21mm, and 19mm, you pretty much have to go for custom straps at that point.. But even more crazy are some old pieces from the 70'sI have that are 17.5mm (Back when straps were measured in fractions of inches, 11/16" = 17.5mm).

Based on the lug width, It sounds like a more sporty watch, if so, I would suggest Fluco straps, they are German made, super soft, and have a really nice sporty look. They are also pretty reasonably priced: https://holbensfinewatchbands.com/co...uco+width_22mm

Bond's (Connery) 20mm->18mm gap.

Bond's (Connery) 20mm->18mm gap.

Are you sure that's only 2 mm shorter at 18? That looks like 16-17, tops

Ah, you're probably right. The "Base 1000 Meters" reference was confusing me (not difficult to do).
