Allow me to one up you.

That is a Venator-Class Star Destroyer as seen in Episode III.

A Victory Class SD looks very much like the Imperial Class.

You may want to wait on the batmobile.

later this year there is going to be a collectible edition batmobile release. I"ll try to post pics of it.

damn I priced everything out that i wanted from TRU and it came out to be the same price if I were to just go to the Lego Store and buy it. Actually it would still be cheaper to buy it at the lego store because you earn those damn stamps for your purchases

^^ you were right, ALL legos' are buy 1, get one for 50% off.

The amazon toys r us website restricted it to one item + one item for 50% off. So you couldn't buy 2 items and get 2 at 50%.

Oh well, I got more than I was expecting from the store. Bought some stuff to hold on to for later, and some that i'm gonna use for a project i'm working on.

I'm gonna make a mosaic of my groups "team identifier" at work. it's gonna be about 45" wide by 35 1/2" tall.

it's gonna costa grip to get framed. oh well. i just hope it looks cool.

I'll post a pic up when It's done.

Hackers, Get Ready!

Hackers, Get Ready! LEGO Group Announces Open Source Firmware, Developer Kits for LEGO® MINDSTORMS® NXT

Consumer-directed robotics experience creation to enter “NXT” phase with open firmware, Software, Hardware and Bluetooth Developer Kits to launch in August

ENFIELD, Conn. (May 1, 2006) – The LEGO Group today announced that for the first time it will release as open source the firmware of the LEGO® MINDSTORMS® microprocessor – the new NXT brick – the core component of its next generation robotics toolset. Additionally, the company announced that it will release Software, Hardware and Bluetooth Developer Kits to its growing global audience of robotics enthusiasts. The firmware code and three developer kits will be available in August 2006 in the “Extreme” section of www.mindstorms.com, in conjunction with the retail availability of LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT.

The Software Developer Kit will include the NXT driver interface specification and necessary tools for creating third-party programming environments. The Hardware Developer Kit will provide the schematics and detail for the NXT 6-wire digital connector system, enabling the community to design and develop third-party sensors that can interact with and control the NXT motors and intelligent brick. The Bluetooth Developer Kit will detail the Bluetooth protocol embedded in the NXT microprocessor, allowing users to create applications for any Bluetooth device that them to communicate with MINDSTORMS robots.

“Most often, innovation comes from the core community of users. Our ongoing commitment to enabling our fan base to personalize and enhance their MINDSTORMS experience has reached a new level with our decision to release the firmware for the NXT brick as open source,” said Søren Lund, director of LEGO MINDSTORMS. “When we launched the legacy MINDSTORMS platform in 1998, the community found ways to do these things on their own, and we were faced with the question of whether to allow it, which we decided to embrace and encourage. Now, given the strong user base and versatility and power of the NXT platform, the right to hack is a ‘no brainer.’ We’re excited to see how our open approach will push new boundaries of robotic development and are eager for all enthusiasts to share their creations with the community.”

Today also marks the first time that the original 14 MINDSTORMS Users Panel members and 100 recruited members of the MINDSTORMS Developer Program, an exclusive group of enthusiasts charged with helping guide the product development process, can publicly share their initial experiences and experiments with the NXT platform. During a four-month process, participants have had access to a secure Web forum where they can communicate with one another, learn more about the project, debate issues, create solutions and support the ultimate launch of LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT in August.

About LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT
LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT is a robotics toolset that provides endless opportunities for armchair inventors, robotics fanatics and LEGO builders ages 10 and older to build and program robots that do what they want. The set includes 571 pieces, the NXT intelligent brick, touch, light, ultrasonic and sound sensors, 3 interactive servo motors, USB 2.0 cable, is Bluetooth enabled and features a new PC/MAC compatible programming software powered by LabVIEW from National Instruments and featuring 18 robotics building and programming challenges to inspire robotics creation.

LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT will be available at most toy and discount merchandise retailers, select consumer electronics retailers or online at LEGOshop.com in August 2006 and will have a suggested retail price of $249.99 (USD) and $ 349.99 (CAD). Pre-orders are currently being taken at toysrus.com, target.com, walmart.com, bestbuy.com and LEGOshop.com. A special version for school and institutional use is releasing later this year.
I've got this set ( ) on order, can't wait to try it out

On another note, in reference to some of my other posts, Yesterday my wife and I finished the mini lego project I've been working on. I'll post up some pics hopefully later tonight.

I created a Lego Mosaic based my teams Group Identifier at work. You'll see what I mean later tonight. The dimensions of the mosaic are 30" tall, and 45" long

More to come...

Talking

Here's the scoop. I've been working on a Lego Mosaic of the Team Identifier for The Space Place, which is the group I belong to at JPL/NASA. I'm their Lead Programmer (among other roles).

So I took our Team Identifier..

And created a Lego Mosaic out of it....

http://www.anilnatha.com/?p=19

(I've still got a few things to finish up on, but I'll have better pics soon right after those things are finished)

It's not the fanciest one out there, but it was good practice... I've got some other Mosaics in the works too.

Looks good. I would get rid of the lighter shades of colors you have. The lighter blue and lighter red...it makes the images look like they are ghosting.

But damn man, kudos for taking the time to make that.

Thanx.

I took that into account when I was planning it out. and it looked like crap without the lighter shades of blue and the orange. It looked too pixelated and jagged.

When you looked at it from a distance without the lighter colors it would look weird. With the lighter shades, its just a form of a physical dithering if you want to call it that.

But yea, I thought about that too, and it looked like crap when I went through my initial tests.

If I recall, it was our resident Graphic Designer.

Want me to make a 3-D version that you can ride?
