iirc, black talons are labeled as such. after the media villainized them for being cop-killers, they were renamed ranger sxt. i've heard that the sxt means "same exact thing"

HAHA, I believe it....

FWIW, the Talons had some inconsistent expansion issues, difficulty penetrating light metal and glass, etc..

But when they hit meat, man did they work (90% of the time). Some just NEVER opened up. This was told to me by the M.E. in the county I worked for after our dept, dirt napped a few people with the rounds. I saw the car of one of the guys, and there was a round embedded in the windshield (under penetrating) and a few inside the door panel that never made it all the way through... The internal damage from the ones that worked, though, was extensive.

There's a great study on SXTs that was conducted by the FBI, I read it on one of their bulletins... I have to dig it up. I remember it supporting basically what you said above... it was ranked #1 as a superior round in penetration and damage without inflicting collateral damage. That reason alone, along with comfortableness shooting it, is the main reason all my firearms are chambered in it.

Nice. I'm getting a G26 next week.

I had a G17 but I didn't like it. I shoot better with my G19. It seems more balanced. I also have smaller hands.

But you can't go wrong with any Glock.

Unless this stuff brings in like $100 a box. I'll be keeping it for awhile. I don't know what the real value would be for this stuff.

i got a new case yesterday. it's a maxpedition silver 2

it has a fold out extension which works great with the longer guns

it has enough room to fit two ar's. one in the main compartment and a second in the smaller one.

Awesome! I don't know what I was thinking when I typed that last week, I mean't I'm picking up a G19. I was going to get the 26 also since it's the same thing as my 30 but in 9mm of course. I just want something alittle more full size for range shooting! I'm pretty sure you won't be disappointed in the 26 (=

And thanks for the compliments on the bag everyone. Here is the link to the product and website from which I purchased this awesome thing from!

If you guys need anymore pictures of it let me know and I"l deliver when I get home from work tomorrow night.

That's a seriously nice range bag. I use my dinky, beatup tool bag that I got for free with tons of Ace Hardware points back in the day.... it sucks but works, haha. Now I need something larger. I'll probably order what you have.

Headed off to Nevada and the range for 4 days, my 220 gets to open ride my hip for awhile.

Generally, I'm against open carry since it sorta "gives" you away to the bad guys (I 99.9% prefer concealed). But, this weekend will be an exception because of what I'm doing.

Haha, what range are you going to? We need to go shooting since you're right by me! I have though about open carrying but given my age, I don't think it'll fly.

Oh and the range bag is truly amazing, I'll show it to you if you want to shoot next week.

depending on where you live in ca, you can open carry. whether you carry loaded or unloaded is an entirely different matter.

you need to confirm this with your local pd, but open carry with an unloaded pistol is good to go. they may give you misinformation though. you'll need to carry the loaded mags separate from the pistol. most people, including le, think that possession of a loaded mag or a loaded mag and firearm or whatever other combination they can think or equals a loaded firearm. it is not. there is case law (i'm too lazy to look it up) that states that a loaded firearm is one that has ammunition attached to it.

the exception to that is if you're a gang member. if so, possession of a loaded magazine is considered possession of a loaded firearm. and if you are, disregard this post and any other firearm-related posts i've made.

Yes, 100% correct. Here is the PDF for reference: http://www.paul.net/guns/CaliforniaOpenCarry.pdf

Although, thread lightly. Again, check with your local PD. Some cities may say you cannot but they are ill-informed because State law preempts local/municipal law (they can only regulate "discharge of a firearm.).

Also, if you are indeed to OC here in California... Prepare for the gawks and looks from gun-scared folks. Dress nicely but casually. Wearing an oversized t-shirt with super baggy jeans with your exposed firearm on your side is not the smartest thing to do.

Yeah this is what I was looking into, I read the entire thing on Calguns.net and some on opencarry.com

But what I'm saying is it's not practical, and myself being young even though I usually dress in work attire, I don't want to be shot by a rookie thinking I'm going postal!

I went to the Sheriffs Range today, where were you?! =p

I thought you had to carry empty magazines and the ammo separately, I'm going to put in for my CCW in a couple months and pray to god that I get it!!

Hey, how hard is it to get a out of state permit? Or is that just a no no? I go to Oregon a few times a year and would love to be able to carry.

I go to the Sheriff's Range a few times a year. But I'm a member of Evans, so I usually shoot there.

Open carry is a touchy subject but the issue is a very large one, IMO. The only way a state like this will open it's eyes to CCWs are through the Open Carry movement.

I for one, do not open carry when I'm in the free-states, even if it is allowed.

I thought you had to carry empty magazines and the ammo separately, I'm going to put in for my CCW in a couple months and pray to god that I get it!!
No, empty mags and ammo can be carried in the same container. Loaded magazines and empty weapon must be separate.

On a side note, I'm trying to see my choices for appealing a recent CCW denial. WTH, my good cause was rock solid and even fellow CCW'rs said I should be pretty much shoe-in. The sad part is here in California, one must go through the same damn process every 2 years and a DENIAL will cost you 1 year in waiting (no reapplications for 365 days from denial).

Hey, how hard is it to get a out of state permit? Or is that just a no no? I go to Oregon a few times a year and would love to be able to carry.
Easy. Oregon is a bit on the finnicky side. It really depends which county you apply in. The sheriff may be ccw friendly, or not. And Oregon only issues non-res to neighboring states only (kinda weird). For now, get a UT and FL, best bang for the buck.

Not too hard actually, since you're in a bordering state, they'll most likely give you one depending on the county.

*edit* I see this has already been answered!
