Very nice. Can't go wrong with an Aston Martin in Gulf livery. Here's to filling that shelf space with more models.

I can only comment on the 1/18 scale, since I don't have any of their 1/43s.

They currently have two lines of F1 models(of any era), diecast and resin. In terms of construction and small finer details, the diecast line is slightly better than Bburago and Hotwheels, however in comparison to their resin line, the diecast version of the same car don't look nearly as sharp as the resin due to the nature of the material. But you usually have to pay 50% more for the resin version, and IMO Spark actually makes better resin F1 models than Minichamps. (And cheaper too)

Thanks. I saw Minichamps & Spark on the site you listed. Didn't pay attention to 1:43 or 1:18, just browsing for now.

I tell you what. I surely missed the boat on that Thetis blue Aventodor roadster. The cheapest one I found is $600. Most are $800+. Pfft.

I've slowed down quite a bit on the 1/18 collecting with just the diecast BBR FXX K on preorder with Derrick at Toronto Motorsports since forever...

I do check out places like AmiAmi and HLJ and I do have the AutoArt 1982 Nissan Skyline RS Turbo Super Silhouette and the Honda RA272 F1 Mexico winner race cars on my wishlist...they look gorgeous. And oh, the white w/ red stripes P1 GTR is gorgeous but I understand that only has opening doors.

Any comments/insight on the 3 cars I'm eyeing...?

Kengfai have been doing diecasts for other companies behind the scenes, so they aren't exactly new.

The Skyline is one of the most highly anticipated release of 2019, and it is full diecast too. The Honda is also full diecast so you can go for those two.

Almost Real is supposed to do the P1 GTR in full open diecast, since you don't seem to rush on any of these I suggest you to wait.

https://www.automobilemag.com/news/m...r-transporter/

Finally, a hauler for all our Mercedes-Benz models! The automaker has just announced this very cool, 1:18-scale car transporter, which combines an Euro-spec Actros GigaSpace cab with two hauling slots and a trailer that can transport four more model cars—or five more if two are Smarts—all sold separately, of course.

The transporter is the work of NZG Models of Nuremberg, Germany, and measures 44.5 inches long and weighs in at a hefty 22 pounds. Just the trailer is made from more than 500 individual bits of zinc, plastic, and etched materials held together with 225 screws, pins, and other fasteners. The cab itself is comprised of nearly 300 parts and requires more than 150 fasteners.

There are movable flaps, doors, and operating levers for the ramps, as well as the central axle. The Actros tractor features a tippable cab to get a closer look at its itty-bitty engine, plus the Mercedes star on the grille lights up.

The company of course offers tons of 1:18 scale models to haul on the truck, including modern stuff like the GLE-, A-, G-, X-, and V-classes, and plenty of AMG models. Classics like the 300SL and Pagoda W113 SL-class, and W116 450SEL 6.9 are also available. Each car costs about $100 a pop with free shipping to Europe at today’s exchange rates, and many are available in various colors.

The Actros car transporter costs somewhat more: the equivalent of $825 or so and is available from licensed Mercedes-Benz partners or online at shop.mercedes-benz.com for markets outside of the U.S. No word as to whether it will be made available here, but we can imagine there are well-heeled American collectors of full-size Benzes that would love to have one of these pint-size semi-trucks.

How cool is THAT. The price seemed high until I went on eBay to see if this sort of thing has been done before. $1149 for what appears to be not as good a model.

https://www.autoblog.com/2019/04/10/...#slide-7557149

Headquartered in Bristol, England, Amalgam Collection makes some of the most detailed (and most expensive) automotive scale models on the planet. After releasing a static McLaren Senna in 2018, the company thought it could do the car even better justice. So, Amalgam created a remote specifically for the 1:8 model that controls a variety of features, including the lights and the doors.

Amalgam has an incredible lineup of models. We could gush about every car on the site, but some of the most notable recent examples have been a chrome Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, a 1:4 Bugatti Chiron engine, a Ferrari 488 Pista, and a Lamborghini Miura P400 SV. Amalgam is currently working on a McLaren Speedtail, a Porsche 917 Martini, and the Ferrari SP twins. Unlike Hot Wheels, however, these are not the types of models one can pile up. Buying just one requires a separate savings account.

Originally, Amalgam's first Senna model cost $8,324. The new-and-improved model is listed at $13,444. This is mainly due to the new remote that comes with the model. About the size of a smartphone, the branded remote has eight different buttons. It can lock and unlock the doors, turn on the hazards, turn on the headilghts, turn on the reverse lights, open the left and right door, or turn on interior lights.

The model comes in a black "presentation box" and is mounted on either a carbon fiber or leather base, all covered by a clear acrylic dust cover. Inspect the details in the gallery above and see the doors and lights in action below.

That's nuts. I wonder who's the market for that. If I bought a million dollar Senna I'd have Mclaren throw one of those in for free. $13k? That's real car money. I wonder who would buy one.

Edit: ...and basically 5k for a remote is pretty laughable.

So, question for the collectors here. Who makes the best diecast (if it exists anymore) 1/18 F1 cart...?

I prefer it to have no driver in it.

Solido and Bburago do cheapo toy-like 1:18 F1s.

Your only option is Minichamps, but they have drivers.

Mattel used to do older Ferrari F1s without drivers, check them out on eBay.
