Movie: Sicario - Day of Soldado

Emily Blunt's character really ruined the first movie for me.. I really liked Brolin and Del Toro though.
I hope this one's a winner.

I like Emily Blunt
But her character was a soggy tampon in the first one
A moral gender queer if you will

Based on the ending of the first one, it was pretty clear that she wouldn't return.

And just from today's headlines:

"The bodies of six men were found hanging from three different bridges near the Mexican tourist resort of Los Cabos on the Baja California peninsula on Wednesday, local authorities said. The authorities did not give details on what happened to the men, but drug gangs often hang the bodies of their murdered victims in public to intimidate rivals. Drug gang violence is set to make 2017 Mexico’s deadliest year in modern history."

It sucked ass
I only paid $6 for admission at a plush theater with fully reclining leather chairs, but I wish I had my money back
Skip it

Spoiler
Parts of it are good. It started okay.. the plot was going along fine, then it all unraveled and just ended up being some weird sloppy mess that ends up being a 2.5 hour lead up to a part 3.. fuck this movie. There wasn't the moral dilemma bullshit of Blunt's character, but this is just as bad if not worse.

I didn't like it either. Slow with an anticlimactic and unresolved ending. Feels like they're setting it up for a third.

The trailer is so good (pretty much the best parts)
I love Brolin and Del Toro.. the chemistry, the characters, awesome.

idk who failed this one, but it sucks big time.
It could have been fucking epic.

Too much character development.
Too much bullshit crossed storylines garbage.
Ughh.. fuck these assholes..

Now I hear they want to bring in Blunt for part 3.. fuck this franchise.

Oh.. one thing that bothers me to no end.
When they remove the headrests from a car seat for an in-car shoot.

In one particular scene, they get to the car, no headrests
Next shot in the car, headrests magically appear

idk why, but that super pissed me off
No attention to detail mang

Good, maybe people will save their $6 and not see this junk

There was another bad edit... they shot and killed the guy on the side of the highway in and around the truck... next scene, truck pulling away and no body to be seen laying on the ground

I did notice the headrests missing in the clip, but I didn't notice them reappear after.

Oh well. I'm hoping pt 3 redeems itself... if there ever is a pt 3.

Went to watch it with my fiance.. noticed the same two edit slips

I felt the same way.. I really loved BDT and Thanos as actors but man.. they really just set it all up for the 3rd, trying too hard to milk the franchise.

Spoiler
Also, I sort of wished they ACTUALLY killed BDT because at least it would be some plot twist no one expected.. but to have him just be alive again at the end of it all.. cop out..

Spoiler
I knew 100% he wasn't dead.. I thought he'd go dig up his weapons and burn the whole institution down.. nope

The kid in the story was a good, decent actor, but didn't mix at all in the story

His character was total bullshit.. like why the fuck would he ever cross paths with him

Plus his moral dilemma after killing him.. then jumping out of the truck.. then a year later he's all tatted up and doing the same thing?

Didn't his whole squad get murdered?!?!? What about his moral dilemma?!?!? Fuck outta here...

And where's Del Toro's scars on his face??

Also.. hand grenades.. no fucking way some coyote middleman piece of shit has access to grenades

Anyways, fuck this movie

Spoiler
and the starting of major cartel wars without any further story telling with regards to that, and the whole movie started with trying to catch and/or kill Reyes... they didn't even mention a word about him at the end. No word on how BDT even got back across the border, you know, with half his face/throat missing, after being left for dead in the middle of Mexico. BDT just goes after the kid, who's the least important character in the whole entire movie

And yeah, that kid becoming a hardcore gangbanger... pfff... c'mon. The kid was softer than 10 ply toilet paper.

Don't know why all the hate.

This movie was awesome! Much better than the first one. I think the reason is it wasn't saddled with the Emily Blunt character. del Toro's character was much more interesting, and I liked that they revealed much more of him this time around.
