Loved, loved, loved the 1st movie. And before peeps say I'm blind-biased for mecha movies, note that I HATE the Transformers' movies past the 1st one by Bay.

Meh, not a big fan of the first one. The mecha just aren't very attractive. Will still watch it on rental though.

Story line does not make sense. They closed the portal and killed the aliens. How the heck can the world be over run by the monsters again?

Maybe it's a prequel. Or aliens from a different dimension, or space.

You do realize this is based on a movie where interdenominational monsters attack Earth while humans battle them in massive skyscraper height robots that are controlled by two minds that combine into one...

I'm SURE they'll find some reason for it to be "believable."

Speaking of Gipsy...Bandai's flagship toy line, Soul of Chogokin, is coming out with a jaw-dropping toy of that mecha: BBTS - Pacific Rim Soul of Chogokin GX-77 Gipsy Danger

Preordered.

It looks better from the mecha design standpoint. My biggest gripe with the first one was that the mecha designs were so boring and clunky. The Bandai models above show that the mecha designs have been improved.

I found Crimson Typhoon and Striker Eureka to be fantastic-looking. They weren't that clunky, were they?

:yup: I like Crimson Typhoon and Striker Eureka. The big Russian mecha was definitely interesting and satisfied the big brute slot, but could have been done better. Gipsy Danger was too boring, unfortunately, it was the main character.

LOL, I do agree...of the mechs, Gipsy is probably the LEAST cool-looking...but, it's still neat. It has a "blazing sword" and ROCKET PUNCH!

I'm uber-stoked that Bandai is giving it the Soul of Chogokin treatment. Sold out like in minutes online w/ Japanese vendors.
