Movie: Dune (2020)

Looking forward to this. Denis Villeneuve is really one of the best in the business right now.

In typical Villeneuve fashion, the cast is crazy.

From here

Filming on Dunebegan in March, with the movie slated for a late-2020 release. Joining Brolin in Villineuve’s all-star cast are Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy), Jason Momoa (Aquaman), Rebecca Ferguson (Mission: Impossible), Stellan Skarsgard (Thor), Charlotte Rampling (Red Sparrow), Javier Bardem (Skyfall), Oscar Isaac (Star Wars: Episode IX), Zendaya (Spider-Man: Far From Home), and Timothée Chalamet (Call me by your Name) as Paul Atreides.

Right? Villeneuve seems to have amazing success in casting. I am a bit concerned Jason Momoa might be a little too on the nose for this. Like, do I really need another Khal Drogo in a film?

I'm still reading the book, so I haven't decided if Duncan Idaho is appropriately cast.

I hope it's better than the first attempt. These were some of my favorite books growing up.

Yeah, it sounds like it might be two films, which would be good. Villeneuve's Blade Runner 2049 was brilliant but WAY too long

Some things should not be remade, but I will watch it anyway...

The book was one of my favorites when I was young (along with much of Asimov's fiction). I hope this movie does it justice!

Arrival was brilliant, too. So was the original Sicario. And Incendies.

This is one of the few movies I'm looking forward to.

I thought the first movie was good if you'd read the books. But it was just really strange in places IMO. I think it was one of those movies that was maybe just too early in terms of the maturity of special effects. I think with today's technology there is an opportunity better interpret the book.

I never read the books, but was drawn by the movie because it was so strange. I watched it multiple times until I finally understood it.

Its a good idea to spread this story into 2 parts.
