It is a much better cover than the original Origin of the Feces album. For sure.

I noticed a lot of traffic around the Coast Colosseum, BB and 5FDP played tonight, and how did that fly over my head...

Lots of shows this summer:

Interpol May 10
Slayer, Lamb of God, Amon Amarth, Cannibal Corpse May 11th next day
Meshuggah in NY on the 16th
Later on in Sept Slipknot, Gojira, Volbeat. OMG Gojira is one of my favorite bands. I have to drive to Tampa for this one.

Nothing great playing in Charlotte that I have seen for this year yet. Interpol and Volbeat both playing in Atlanta but don't really want to drive 4hrs to see them.

I love it when this thread gets bumped!

I've really been enjoying some of the new iPrevail and From Ashes To New (somewhat kind of a Linkin Park vibe there, and they do it justice, IMO!)

I also like Parkway Drive... And some of the new Breaking Benjamin singles have been good!

I hear Saint Asonia is working on a new album... As well as Tool...

I have gotten to like those A Perfect Circle singles that came out last year.... And Gojira? I've heard their single "Stranded", many times in rotation on the radio... It's a great song!

Yeah I like APC and looking forward to new Tool. The heavier the better

Ok let's talk Gojira. Please listen to the following tracks. Then if you dig them, play the From Mars to Sirius album straight through. They are slow in a lot of songs but then build up to a crescendo of headbanging metal. At the same time, they don't get too crazy like say Slipknot but they're very talented and I think casuals could even get into them.

Pantera was great. Sadly 2 members are dead and one apparently is a Nazi. They are of the genre groove metal (though bands blend between different genres). Look who's #5 on this top 10 list of groove metal (Gojira)

So, I listened to all three Gojira songs and thanks for posting. I'll definitely need to dig into their catalog more!

On the other hand... All of this metal talk reminded me of a band I discovered last lear and completely lost track of. So I pulled up the singles I remembered from last year and gave most if the album a go! So far... This is my favorite!

When I heard they were from my hometown of New Orleans, they got my attention really quickly!

Thanks for checking them out. I promise you that their catalog is amazing. I'm so upset I missed them for so many years. I listened to the above song. It's very catchy and reminds me a little of Pantera and Down (same frontman).

I had to introduce my kid to Nyango Star last night. He rocks pretty hard for a cat soul trapped in an apple.

No problem! I need to try more of their catalog.

The frontman of Pantera and Down is Phil Anselmo. He is from where I grew up in Metairie, LA. He went to the same school as my mom did years earlier as well as Ellen DeGeneras... His dad also owned an Italian restaurant nearby, but he closed it after Katrina.

I fallow Louisiana rock bands very closely, btw.

Thanks for sharing though. Does Gojira have any more melodic songs that I may be able to get into?

This summer I'm hoping to catch Rob Zombie/Manson, Korn/Alice in Chains, and Skillet/Sevendust. Although I don't know Skillet I'm a huge Sevendust fan.

Ozzy/Zakk Wylde was postponed until next year

As do I, but mostly because I discovered a lot of my favorite bands through Pantera and their members (mostly Phil) as I was growing up, and then it branched out from there...Down, Corrosion of Conformity, Damageplan, Superjoint Ritual, Arms of the Sun, Crowbar, etc. And lots of other smaller bands/projects.

Skillet is phenomenal live, I've seen them about 5 times. I'm going to all those shows as well, I just saw Sevendust open up for In This Moment on Tuesday night and it was a greats how. I'd seen them both before but it was a great night and a great crowd. Also saw Buckethead a few weeks back, highly recommend him if you've never seen him.

For Skillet I'm a big fan of Awake and Comatose albums, Buckethead, the dude has more recordings than any other artist, so it's hard to narrow it down, dude is unbelievable on the guitar though

Interpol was good though the audio sucked in the venue.
Missed all the bands except 2 songs of LoG but Slayer was great. Tom stood outside for like 10 mins of cheering after taking it in since that's it. Glad I made the 90 min journey even after missing most of it.
Meshuggah....HOLY FUCKING SHIT. So this was in a tight venue called Hammerstein Ballroom. I mean the GA bled out to the entrance almost on how packed it was. What A Horrible Night to Have a Curse opened. As soon as they finished and people went to pee or get drinks, I chugged my beer and slid into the front. Sure it gets bumpy and I probably assisted in like 5 or 6 crowd surfing while getting kicked in the head, but Goddamn that was fun and I was almost front and center. They sound tight especially considering they have one of the greatest metal drummers of all time in Tomas Haake and had a great setlist. I was physically fucking exhausted from the activity and my ears suffered as that was my 3rd show in a week. Not to mention I walked from 59 St and Lex to 34th and 8th Ave which is basically from Midtown to Penn Station though I stopped at Halal Guys for fuel. Certainly a great night!

I'm more a fan of their first album for sure, I enjoyed the second album even though they went more poppy. They do a nice mix of old and new songs in their shows though so it was really enjoyable. Their visuals were awesome too
