We drove through Flagstaff around this time last year & there was still a fair amount of snow on the roadsides (roads were damp, but not slick/icy).

Hmmm... is that like when it sleets for an hour with a few snow flurries but it's 38 outside and everything melts as soon as it lands?

Cause if so, it's cold here.

"Cold" is when a jacket is required to be comfortable outside. It has been cold here in coastal Los Angeles, with night temperatures in the 40s and day temps below 65*F for the past couple of weeks.

No, grasshopper, it's the type of cold that if we went to jog, you'd start sobbing not because you feel like crying but because your eyeballs can't take it faster than you can say covfefe.

And it's where Fahrenheit passes Celsius.

Weather forecasters predicted doom and snow and Portlanders responded in the only way they know how....by clearing out the grocery stores. By the time the sun came up the roads were still only wet and only the higher elevations had a trace of snow on the shoulders. Meanwhile the produce section of my local grocery store looked like this....

That's ridiculous.... When snow is predicated I don't go into doom mode... I go into ignore it and drive carefully mode... Ain't no damn snow gonna stop me

I say the same about northerners. I regularly visit NY and am thankful I get to come back to this climate. It would be nice to wear sweaters, suits, and long sleeves more but I can't stand carrying around my jacket and sweater because it's 20 outside and 90 inside with the heater at full blast.

I guess we all just get used to what we've been around.

It even rained pretty hard here for a bit, and it's been like low 40s and 10+ mph winds. Cold enough to break out the north face

Years ago we had a high of upper 90s in Feb
Bunch of my coworkers went out on the lake
Jumped in the water.. water was still in the 50s

We have 60 degree swings in a matter of days
Even 40 degree swings in a day.
Air temp changes a lot faster than water temp

Lake is typically in the low 80s during summer

Swim in the springs. They’re a constant 70 degrees all year long.

But 88 is still too cold for them. Especially with the angle of the sun and the February breeze. Maybe a heated pool.

Partially why I can't justify owning a pool. Even down here it's very limited use.

Yooo this morning my windows were frozen like wtf is this? Had to pour (lukewarm) water on my windshield to break up the layer of frost.

Since I'll be outside tonight I even had to wear a layer under my pants. Feel like a damn eskimo.
