thanks everyone for their recommendations... we had a ball.. the two kiddies loved it and we didn't want to leave... 8 nights was just about the perfect amount of time in paradise... i can see the want to never leave but i could easily see how normal day to day life could get old pretty quickly over there...

at minimum wage, it still boggles my mind the cost of living... we went to the safeway to get supplies for the week... water, milk, snacks, etc... and i was shocked at the prices... granted the island is small and you don't put much mileage on your car, but at over $4/gallon it adds up quick... and lots of traffic for a little island... then the prices of houses = :death: ... who knew paradise was this expensive... you would need to hit the powerball, maybe twice to afford it...

Theft is a becoming or is already a big issue as well.

Everything is more expensive on Hawaii cause majority of the stuff is shipped in from the mainland.
the jones act doesn't help either.

From a lot of the locals I've meet a lot of the issues come from the lousy state govt officials and how they run the state.

Hawaii is very progressive
But money talks, just like everywhere else
Like that fucking rail to the mall no one wanted.. Yay!

And if you think theft is on the rise
You don't know much about Oahu cuhh
Oahu a real den of thieves, gypsies be taking notes
They can literally snatch your shit from the time to park to the time you walk up to your front door

I know some guys that can strip a car in minutes
Even my boy got hit. He came ova to the crib and we heard his alarm go off.
Took us about 20 seconds from the alarm to visual on the car.

System was jacked, subs, amps, deck.
Didn't even see them drive away.
He had a good alarm setup too.

My dumbfuck coworker went to Oahu a few years ago for a conference
He wanted to know all the shit to do, local insight.
I told him, don't leave your valuables in the car, they'll get stolen. Seriously!

What does that stupid fuck do, leaves his laptop in his trunk at the hotel because he didn't trust the hotel.
Fucking stayed at some 5 star place too, stupid fakka.
Goes to car, trunk popped, highly classified laptop gone.
All his work gone (not backed up).

I don't talk to that haole fuck anymore.
He got married on that trip too, already divorced.
Did some beach thing with just his ex on nalos and paid some $$$ for authentic Hawaiian priestess with a conch shell.
I lol'd.

btw what's with all the abandoned junk cars on the side of the road? i understand they got no where to put them, but why not dump them in the ocean to form some reefs?

Did you just suggest putting junk cars in the beautiful pristine oceans of Oahu..
The state that just banned sunscreen from the beaches and oceans
Don't come back..

I don't recall ever seeing a junk car abandoned by the road
Plenty of island bombs, but they still run
Oahu is pretty good keeping the roadways clear of junk cars

too much work to dump them in the ocean. They just strip all the parts worth any money and leave it there.

also tow companies won't tow it since they likely won't get paid for the tow.

Ah your ninja edit.. yeah the westside is littered.
But if you over there, you should be more concerned about not getting raped in one of those abandoned cars.
Gov't pushes all the junk and homeless to the westside. It can be rough out there.
My boy has a farm there.. something like 15 acres. His dad bought it in the early 90s for like 350k.. shiettt.
It's nice.. worth a fuck ton more now. Back in the early 90s, land and property were at a 25 year low. Missed out.

Heck when I went snorkeling some guy on a dirt bike was casing cars to break into. No fvcks were given.

ended up swimming with my wallet and shit in a triple bagged ziplock bag

There's 2 costcos on oahu, if you have a costco membership, cheapest gas on the island. Easily 50cent/gallon cheaper than the usual stations (Hele, Ohana, Chevron, Shell, etc.)
Get ready to wait in line, though!

I read a while back that there was some beef between the towing/wrecking company not being paid on time by the city to remove abandoned cars.

I love the westside..
My peeps is the only vet in Makaha, they live well.

It's rough mang. Choke mokes mang.
But for as much ignorant shit happens out there.
There's also a lot of aloha, some of the best people, homeless too.
Not just beauty, but that's what I love. It's the best and worst.

Some more pics I took. Climbed Koko Crater stairs, then hiked the ridge to the Arch and ended up at the Halona blowhole.

yea it was crazy overgrown. Bad idea to go from the stairs along the ridge and down to the arch.

At times I wish I had a machete.

Also wished I had a blow torch for all the spider.

Also times I had to just put my foot down on the grass/bushes/shrubs and test to see if the ground was safe. Could not see it.

and yes I went a few days after the massive flooding that happened back in April.

and yes. Fuck the stairs.

that shit took me 50 minutes

he also meet some people that are part of a Facebook group that go up every day. Some of them have completed it 100x already this year so far

Miz.. you should move there mang.
You'll either get really fit and enjoy the lifestyle 100x
or get really fat and still enjoy the lifestyle 100x

ladies there are a mix though brah
A lot of freaks, but real prudish
You can't approach them like the mainland
They have blackbelts in cock blocking

But if you get in the inner circle.. you get in the inner circle. eh.
Think head on tantalus on the hood of your car..
then let's take this show on the road.. (road head) to their old hs
then give you blowie on hood of car in front of school.. wtshit..

Many good times mang..

Just don't go bikini spotting at the beach without your shades..
Use your peripherals or else you gonna be using your shades to cover your black eyes.

I know Kam thinks you need to be a billionaire to move there.. not true.
Most of my boys had spots out there for like 1300-1500 for 1br in the city.
Add a couple hundred for a 2br, can get a roommate.
Share a bathroom but then you're like 900 / mo on rent.

Save, get yourself established. Pay is variable. Most jobs pay less there.
But if you in civil or construction or HVAC, can be really good.
Especially certain trades.. bank.

To do what you do there, might make less / more. About the same probably.
But lifestyle is good and there are opportunities.
Plus Hawaii is mostly recession proof. Didn't feel much of the hit in 2008.

Anyways, paradise tax. It's worth it.
Just for them fire ass babes mang.
