Shit when I get pulled over, windows down, interior lights on, license and carry license on top - in hand, hands on the steering wheel.
Ask only what is necessary, comply to commands.

Even if you think there is injustice, you're not going to win that fight there.
Save that for an appropriate audience, if it's even worth pursuing.

All I was looking for was something better than “play stupid games win stupid prizes” and “ftp”.

While those are both here, so is some thoughtfulness.

Not to shit on the teh poleeesssee
But one of the cases that still really upsets me was the hotel hallway shooting of Daniel Shaver in Mesa, AZ
He was already in a prone exploitative position. Sink on him.
He reached back because his pants were falling off. Totally unnecessary.

I understand that they were trying to keep some cover, not knowing if there was a credible threat in the room still.
It's monday morning quarterbacking but damn.. they dropped him and still descended on the room.
Why not sink on him, secure him and recover.

He was drunk in his hotel room. Does that make him stupid?

BTW I am totally lost as to the meaning of “sink on him”.

They were called because they said someone with a rifle was brandishing it at the hotel.
It was a BB gun, but he was stupid to have it out in public like he did.
I don't know the details other than that, but they obviously responded like it was a serious threat.

Sink on him meaning they walk to him while one officer secures him and others cover.

Thx. He had a BAC 3 times the limit. Like I said, drunk. Most of us are not terribly rational when intoxicated.

That's why the officers asked if they were intoxicated to measure how responsive they would be.
Despite their response to that question, it was pretty obvious he was lost in his own mind.

Wouldn’t be the first time a belt could’ve saved a life.

Oh, and fuck that police. I hope he suffers a painful existence.

I'm not saying eff that officer.. it just seems so unnecessary.
You could blame the protocol they were utilizing, the communication, etc.
It's borderline nail and hammer. For that poor dope, he was the nail.

The cop was clearly abusing his power, had violated multiple policies, and thought he was above everyone around him. His attitude unnecessarily took an innocent life, so yeah, fuck that guy. I hope he finds himself with 100 angry bees in his underwear.

Holy shit... i'm not a cop-hater by any means but a couple of bad personal experiences this year and watching that last video is actually making me kind of upset. They had him get in a position to get handcuffed and checked for weapons so why did the other officer not detain him instead of making him crawl towards him? The vibe I was getting was that this cop was on a power trip and was enjoying every second of it.

It;s because they weren't sure who had the reported rifle, and thought there might be other people in the hotel room who could have been armed. That's why they were moving these two away form the door they were coming out of when the police arrived. At the end of the video, they are trying to get access to the hotel room to clear it, too.

The officer making commands was emotional, consistent though.

They made them crawl because they were probably using the entrance of those rooms as a poor excuse for cover to protect themselves

They didn't know if that was the perp with the gun or not, which is even crazier. They were injudicious in their actions. I'm not saying criminal, but regretful and unnecessary IMO. I definitely think they have civil liability, not that it makes up for it.

That's why I think it's nuts. They didn't even identify the threat. It could have been an innocent couple from the adjacent room.

I don’t think there is anything consistent with demanding someone to crawl and expecting them to keep their hands in the air.

Not much purpose as far as the shooting itself, as far as I understand it. The original video (post #1) is a complete and unedited version of the shooting. The argument with regard to the extended the video is that it shows the officers fail to provide medical aid in a timely manner .... whatever that means .... minutes? .... .

I've also heard/read that there may be another, non-police, video from a different angle. Not sure if release of that would answer questions or simply create more questions.

Makes sense. Would be interesting to see the other angle though but doubt it gets released.
