So, what's a typical traditional Korean-type breakfast...? Is it congee...?

Koreans don't eat breakfast much.

On weekends though, breakfast is usually the obvious. Rice + whatever side dishes we have + some sort of accompanying soup or stew.

I'm not Korean but my wife is. She was born in Seoul. We've been married for 7 years but together for almost 10. Met her at UW. When I first met her, I went to Korea with her. Want to go back sometime. Take our son there and see that half of his heritage. Korean food....man I could go on forever. Her mom is from Korea. Her dad was born in Spokane WA of all places lol. Hella cool people though.

Nico our son (yep, half black):

Ah...good to know. I love the side dishes (i.e. daikon, bean sprouts, seaweed, and kimchee)...

first time i went (back) to korea was the summer after 6th grade.

eating rice, kimchi, sides, some kind of soup/stew was weird for me. my stomach couldn't handle it.

then my older cousin to me and my sister to a bakery. that's when i was introduced to the bread with the red bean paste.

food in korea...especially food off the streets. can't type in korean here at work, but the pojang machas...

What is the semi-spicy soup (more or less clear) that has beef strips, onions, and this orange-colored flower (or is it a stem) in it...?

I often get served it when I head off to a K-restaurant around here.

Jeju Island is god damn beautiful.

Well, I went there like 6 years ago, before much of the major hotels rose, but the water is so clear and blue, it's just amazing.

What else do you require man...? I listed all the things in it.

Um, the soup has a reddish color to it (it looks to be chili oil)...which gives it the kick.
