Can anyone recommend a store where I can buy a cheap (<$30) pair in person? I have relied on Target for the past 3-4 years with their $15-20 pairs. They slowly changed the designs, but kept the same general style I liked until recently.

With 2 small kids, I can't risk owning anything fragile and expensive, and I need to be able to try them on before I buy them. Any suggestions besides Wal-Mart?

Am I the only one that still rocks good old Ray Ban Aviators?! I have the classics and to be completely honest I don't ever see myself wearing a different pair of sun glasses. Unless some new amazing tech / materials come out...

Noted. Anyone else? I will be at the coast in 2 weeks, so I know the options open up significantly then, but I would like to have a local go-to option. I hate going to the mall, but if there are no better suggestions than gas stations, I may resort to that.

It's hit or miss but I've had some luck at Tj maxx. You may find a great pair at a great price or you may just find junk.

Nemesis. They're technically safety glasses but I have a pair just for driving as well as work. Cheap (~$6), and the lenses are dark as hell.

Still an Oakley guy...several pair.

I DID find my very first pair of nice glasses when I was my parent's house taking care of all my crap for their impending move.

B&L Killer Loops...still look brand new, don't even make them anymore.

I get Nemesis safety glasses at my welding supply store, I actually have a dark tinted pair still in the bag right in front of me. I bought them for when I'm working outside at the Airport, I will have to give them a try!

My Oakley Hatchet's in my wifes car are about due to be replaced. Someone tweaked them a bit, and they're missing a nose pad, which really sucks when you put them on in the extreme heat of the summer.

I wear Oakley sunglasses, non-polarized just because I can't see screens while driving and that's important to me. I have a Half Wire (which is called Wiretap now) pair (driving/style) and a Half Jacket pair (driving/sports), love them both but their new styles are getting far too out there. I'll probably switch to Maui Jim for my next pair.

I have an el cheapo pair of polarized ones from Target for boating so if they go in the water I don't really care all that much.

I agree. I've been to many gas station but only found one that fits my big head nicely, lol. The others are too small and makes my face hurts.

I totally forgot about this thread. I decided to spend my $300 on something else.
39 inch flat screen. Vizeo.

On the Oakley web site they have a lot of styles in "Asian fit".

That said, I too like my Oakleys. Have a pair of Whiskrs and Tightropes, both polarized. All of their lenses are optically correct (don't distort at the edges) and are ANSI safety rated. Not a big fan of their newer styles though. I'll probably have to switch to something like a Maui Jim or similar when its time for the next pair.

To answer my own question, Academy. They have everything from $25 to $250. I picked up a pair of Body Glove - Vapor 16 polarized, and I can see the difference over crap shades. I went a little crazy and dropped 2 twenties.

Costco.. check out their Oakley Two Face line. Almost bought a pair this weekend but they were $150 non-polarized. Wouldn't come down to 34.50

Tell them you're big in Japan

Thanks! I did look on Amazon but these sellers are questionable, especially when they claim 'made in Italy'

If I buy from Amazon, am I still eligible for repair directly from Maui Jim?

I've sent mine in for new lens twice in 15 years. They've never asked where I got them (got them at sunglass hut).

I have to laugh at someone who earlier remarked that Maui Jim are fragile. I only use mine for sport (skiing, boating, biking, etc) and have never replaced anything other than lens; original bows, frame, nose pcs. OTOH, I have 2pr of rb wayfarers that are wearing out after 3 years of light use.

there is a difference between "overpriced" and "expensive."

MJs are expensive, but they are worth the price.
