Awesome!

I should warn you, the brush fits into the stand where the bristles meet the base, not at the point you see the Omega sticker. The handle is a little too wide for the stand to fit at the middle of the handle of the brush. I really like mine.

Haven't had a clean shave since my dad passed away in January. In February I began to trim to a stubble. I have zero desire to clean shave for now - maybe in the spring time I can resume to my lavish shaving sessions. Maybe.

Sorry to hear about your dad, Techno.

Is the no shaving because (a) it was something you associate with your dad, (b) religious, (c) not wanting to partake in self gratifying experiences for a while, or something different?

Thank you. It's (a) because I was suppose to use the brand new trimmer I specially bought just to trim his beard as he was in the hospital. He never sported a beard. Always had a clean shave. He wanted to have a clean shave only when he was finally home. He agreed to be trimmed temporarily after days of persuasion. This never happened... He went from bad to worse to hospice.

And (b) & (c).... From shiva, to sheloshim, to whatever.

It's all good - life must go on. Let's get back to shaving

I didn't read this entire thread. I have socks to sort and all
I'm sorry I missed that ad though. I love it when they say fuck in ads. I love that commercial for Kelloggs Fuckin O's
BTW I use whatever plastic razor is cheapest. I know... not a green thing to do and I should be ashamed but the razors do what they're supposed to do and besides, this a site where we talk about wasting fossil fuels for our personal amusement so...

Techno...my condolences.

I have gone from being a shaving master...to researching beard oils and mustache wax...

Of course I do still have to maintain shape and what not.

Finally got my feather blades in the mail the other day. Took over a month. Guess they were stuck in customs.

Decided to try out the DE for the first time. Very little irritation compared to a disposable razor. For me it's getting the angle right. 30 or more does the trick. Chad thanks for suggesting ToOBS sandalwood cream. I'm a fan. No nicks or cuts either and I'm a noob.

Felt confident enough to shave WTG and ATG.

Btw the boar bristle brush works just fine.

Just wanted to give this a little bump and show off my new brush in the rose gold. I had an inexpensive badger from Art of Shaving and while it worked, I really loved the weight and look of the Muhle Silver tip brush. Thing is soft and makes a great lather.

Picked up another Rose in a closed comb because the open, can be a bit rough when in rush. Grabbed the matching stand along with some Sandalwood Proraso Red to make up for being a tard and getting AOS non scented. Still waiting on the Taylor of Bond Cedarwood to come in, can't wait to try it.

Think it's time to get a straight razor...

1StGenCL,

Let me know what you think of the Proraso red. I use the green and love the fresh scent, but tried the TOOBS Sandalwood and eventually found the scent overpowering. The whole bathroom smelled like it for hours (probably due to my brush) and I get tired of lingering odors, good or bad. Wondering how the Proraso Red compares in terms of scent. I do think the TOOBS was slicker, but it's a cream and the Proraso is a harder soap, so it was to be expected.

let me know what you think after you use them.

Also, nice collection man!

Spider,

The red was a bit overpowering and while I liked the smell at first, I still get wiffs of it. I'm going to use it for a few more days and see how it goes, other wise I will probably go back to AOS sandalwood cream. I'm used to the creams so the soap was pretty rough this morning but I'm sure I'll get better with it.

As for the TOBS, I've heard it is slick and the price is great. They are out of the cedarwood so I'm going to have to try something else, may go for the lemon lime or peppermint for a bit of a change.

Cedarwood is new and stock is very low, I don't even recall seeing it on amazon. I ended up getting Lemon Lime and will get the cedarwood and a few others when it comes back in stock.

Finally dumped the DE blade, used some different blades to see the difference but they always left a nick on my face.

Went with The Gilette Fusion Power. I use it the regular way for short beard and turn the vibrating motion on for a longer beard. The cartridges (pricey) don`t last at all but at least my face doesn`t get the annoying cuts.

User error? Because that makes no sense at all. But hey as long as it's working out for you...

I will NEVER let a disposable razor like that touch my face again.

The shave with the DE was ultimately the closest and best shave I got. Even with my barber`s advise to go slow and me trying different ways it still cut me. Sensitive skin? User error? Not sure. Disposables are horrible, but?

Hell those things are not for the faint of heart! Lol

Try a newer Merkur that's less aggressive.

Could just be your skin too but if so I'd think shaving in general would be the same.

I haven't nicked myself in a LOOOOOONG time.

Hahaha! The merkur safety razor looks definitely safer than the old gilette. It just kills me to spend 15 bucks on the crappy cartridges.

I pay $15 for nearly a year's worth of shaving with DE blades (I use a blade for two shaves and replace it, don't shave on Sundays)

I am strongly considering a DE razor. I have tried SO MANY of those Gillette (or insert other brand) multi blade razors with 3,4,5,6 whatever number blades and get the WORST razor burns, ingown hairs, raised skin, rashes...etc

The only razors that don't bother me are the really cheap gillete disposable 2 blade razors. Who would have thought
that using multiple blades would be so much worse than just two. So at this point, I have given up, I need to move on to a DE/straight blade. I want a closer shave without the bullshit. The worst part is that I get all these bumps and then I can't shave again till my hair grows out again or else I get a shit ton of cuts and red marks that last weeks.

I have joined the "Safety Razor Club". Well almost, it'll be an anniversary gift from the wife in a couple weeks.
- Parker 96R Razor
- Parker Synthetic Badger Brush
- Feather Blades
- Fairhope Soap "HIM" Havana Shave Soap
I just need to figure out a good aftershave.

While in Fairhope, AL last week the wife and I went into a soap shop. They had a shave soap that they make in house, almost literally. The lady that runs the place started out in her kitchen. It smelled great and after talking to the owner, I was sold. The soap is well reviewed.

I've been using Harry's for a couple years now and really like it, but will be cancelling my "subscription".

I lied, the razor is a Parker 92R.
I used it for the first time last night and it went well. My face felt a little tender afterwards, but I'll chalk that up to first time use.
I used Shave Secret pre-shave and my leftover Harry's Aftershave.

I definitely want to get a shave bowl, I tried using a slightly oversized coffee mug and didn't like the results I was getting. Any suggestions for a good one?

I've been using Billy Jealousy Hydroplane for 2 months now.. And this is the best water enabled slick shaving cream I've ever used.... Truly remarkable. The more you rewet your razor - the slicker it becomes.
