Went to Atco...
Last Sunday, I made the drive out to Atco with some friends. We all got in about 7 runs each and were thoroughly disappointed with our times. It may have been the 3 hour drive (we arrived and began racing within 10 min) or it could have been the ~90 degree, humid weather. Whatever the case may have been, the times sucked. My bolt-on G35 RWD ran 14.5-14.8 @ 96-98, FBO JB4 335i coupe ran 13.2-13.4 @ 104-106 and the Jeep SRT did 13.8-14.2 @ 98-100. I couldn't get a good launch for the life of me. All my 60's were over 2.3. Maybe I'll try again in better conditions. The 335 owner was the most butthurt. He expected mid 12s @ 110+ as he claimed to have put down over 450awhp with his mods on E85.

Damn... 2.3 60' in a rwd sub 300hp car at Atco?
What kinda tires do you have?
I was driving a 3.8 Genesis Coupe to sub 2.0 60's at Atco when it was cold out.
Usually their track prep is the best.

I have 4 month old Pirelli tires front and rear on 19" wheels. My last run was at island dragway; I trapped 100+ that time. I was on 18" wheels and it was pretty cold out. I remember a 2.0 60' at the time as well.

The weather conditions weren't great @ 1700+ feet (according to Dragtimes) that day. The 335 still should've went at least 107-108 traps since boosted cars aren't affected as much. That's a little odd....your corrected times are low 14s @99-100. Go back in the fall and watch you dip into the 13s @101-102, honestly. With a better launch, you will be in the 13s in better conditions.

^ That's what I was hoping for. I went with a 3/4 full tank of gas and stuff in the trunk. I wasn't planning on taking my car but I changed my mind last second. Also, do you think I might have lost some power by adding my resonator back? I had replaced it with a straight pipe a while back. No sure if its just me, but I noticed the car got a litter slower up top.

Two thoughts on the 335. His time was equal to a stock 335is, way to slow for a FBO running E85. Expect the hot day & maybe a stock intercooler got him. I am far from a FBO just a JB4/FMIC & did 12.5/114 the first day out on 92 octane with a slow 2.0 60ft.
Turbo's just don't do well in the heat.

You're reso may have lost you a few HP, depending if it is straight through or not. Which reso?

Yes, he has a stock IC. That's probably one of the few things he hasn't changed. And Sonnick, the reso is just past the midpipe towards the muffler. It's a heavy, rectangular box that is offset to the passenger side.

^ What brand is it? Do you know if it's straight through piping inside or not? If not, you may be losing like 4-5whp. If it is, maybeee 1 or 2, if that.

Usually anything past the downpipes does not do much of anything for the 335/135 outside of a great sound. Even BMW's $1000+ performance exhaust is listed as +5BHP at top end.
If he has more than 25K miles on his plugs they should be changed & a walnut blast is a good idea at 50K+ miles

That resonator is probably costing you a few ponies. But even if it's 5whp, that's only half a mph on your trap, so if it sounds good, leave it and just lose 50 lbs somewhere off the car for the same effect. If it's too quiet now, you could try a long bottle resonator or even the Vibrant Ultra Quiet for a happy medium. I think I may do the Vibrant 1141 myself.

I may do the Vibrant Ultra Quiet myself. My XLR8 cat back is "resonated", but it's barely a real bottle resonator. It's pretty tiny. My car isn't crazy loud, but I'm just getting a little sick of it and want to tone it down a notch or two.
And remember, "ultra quiet" is only by aftermarket resonator, or bottle type standards. It'll still be louder than oem types, like the one you pictured.

I'm debating trading my exhaust for stock + cash and just doing a damn cutout....

Yeah, I wouldn't get too hung up on the result. The same loss was seen across the board. Optimal conditions will definitely put you a few tenths faster. Thanks for sharing.

The UQ looks like a good reso. I believe that and the AR25/AR30 are supposed to work pretty well. To be honest, I don't think it will make a HUGE difference, but it will definitely be noticeable, and should quell any remaining rasp IMO. I think it's more for rasp than sound suppression. Or maybe I'm thinking of the Aero Turbines....I know the E46 M3 uses one of the two choices above for rasp.

I don't really have any rasp since I have the HFC's, but a little tone reduction would be nice. I just wanna be in stealth mode a bit more. Here's the "resonator" that comes with the XLR8 exhaust. Judging by the size of it, the non resonated can't be much louder! I think the UQ should help a little bit. I certainly don't want it even close to stock decibals. I know what you're saying though, I don't like any extra attention from noise.
