Never really cared for leaving on the tree.

Nice runs 06MT. Definitely much better than last time. Your trap speed went up significantly and your time dropped as well

Throughout the night, I never ran slower than a 14.6. I must have did about 20 runs at least. Totally surprised the hell out of me. My automatic Type-S has over 120,000 miles on it and it runs like a dream! Even chirps into 2nd sometimes. Managed to take out a brand new (stock) WRX, a modded wagon WRX, brand new CTS, a 300C Hemi, neck and neck with late 80's cobra, neck and neck with an old Chevelle, beaten by a 12 second Evo, beaten by a Camry SE V6, destroyed a few Civics, beat a newer Golf R32, and lost to a modded newer WRX.
Awesome!!

I think that is the best (basically) stock 5AT TL-S time posted.

I'll be in Concord in a week or two. We should race .... 14.2x v 14.3x.

But I'll be in some rental or another.

Just wanted to 'update,' although I haven't been to the track again since last time. But I put the date/time/track into the DA calculator on dragtimes last night. The corrected run for my 14.00 @102 was 13.86 @103 Although I didn't actually run a 13, I will keep an asterisk next to that night.

And by the way, I tried launching on the street a few times last night with 4500-5K clutch slips. I will definitely be launching at the track like that next time out.

Finally made some runs at beech bend 1/4 mile. I ran my fastest time of 14.30@98.69. There was a modded 6mt 350z running identical time and et. Also had multiple 14.35's, once with 9.28 1/8 and other 99.34mph trap. I'm happy with the results but definitely have to make the trip again this fall when temps drop. Hopefully couple more mods as well.

Here's the slips. Plugged the info in drag times DA calculator and got 13.94@101.28.

Great trap speed! Mod the bitch and run it again, I'm confident you can run 102/3+ mph FBO

thanks guys. really impressed with the traps but was hoping for times closer to 6mt guys. feel pretty quick 1st-2 but 3rd tq falls off badly. taking way too long 3rd-finish. knowing that stock exhaust is really hurting

next visit will include the egr delete, underdrive pulley, rv6 exhaust and of course ditch these oem mxm4's

looking to break 14's with 2.1 60ft on a good night

Precats and exhaust will help 3rd and 4th gear a lot it definitely felt like my car was pulling hard all the way to redline with those mods

Look at some dyno curves...going to redline might not be the best plan if the motor is struggling to add revs. My car is manually shifted at 6250 against a 7000 reline for the best times.

^thats a big thing on a lot of turbo cars but I think ours need to be completely revved out...and on the autos especially, it would be horrible to hit 4th in the 1/4mile

CDC considering it was hot, you did well. Once it cools off I'm sure you will trap 101+, especially with your new mods. That's without PCDs! That should be added to your list as well...

thanks for bringing this up. I went back and check my 3rd gear dyno runs and found out my tq was dropping off dramatically right before 6k. Explains why I felt so slow on that last gear before finish. It almost feels like a dead spot in 3rd during vtec.

Btw nice 335, once the juicebox installed, it's a completely different car!

that's correct I'm almost top 3rd at end of 1/4, no reason shift 4th. I've had chance to run couple turbos and usually hear them shifting early, especially the speed3. Love hearing bov and you still having 2k until redline and they reel you in after short shift.

thanks man just had to get some idea of my times before I throw anymore money at it. I'm having ton of wheelspin on line, so nittos are on priority list. my car was definetely heat soaked after 2hr drive so I'm thinking about borrowing trailer for next time.

just to clarify my current mods: aem v2, tb coolant delete, port n polished manifold+runners, port matched p2r tbs+gaskets and maxxbore tb, rv6 precat deletes+v3 jpipe bolted to stock dual tip exhaust.

Despite the torque dropoff, you do NOT want to shift into 4th in the 1/4. You will run slower without a doubt. 4th gear for the 5AT is very long and because of this, you would fall out of VTEC and have essentially little grunt crossing the 1320. Ideally, when you cross the traps, you want to be crossing at the same RPM where your power peaks. For the auto, you may actually be crossing the traps in the area of your peak HP.

I didn't realize you had the PCDs as well. Either way, that's a great trap for the 5AT.

You're saying you get a ton of wheelspin at the line. How do you launch?

I do short burnout avoiding puddle and stage very slowly. once staged I throw into N with foot on brake and do high rev until break pedal tension gives. Then SS mode, break torque rev to 2k rpm release with launch. I had some 2.25 60's with that method so sticking to that routine. I'm looking into xlr8 motor mounts as well

I will be running at Qualcomm tonight in San Diego! It is only an 1/8th mile track but still should be fun! If anyone else is interested let me know! I saw a Acura TL out there on august 24th so I hope he is there again so I can run him. 1st time running with all my mods and 1st time near sea level! Can't wait!

Here is one of the seven passes I made! The challenger and I were actually the first two cars down that side of the track! They run a total of 4 lanes. Timeslips aren't available as the damn printers weren't working most of the time. I have no idea what I ran but I am assuming I am in the low-mid 9's as my traps in the 77-78+MPH range from what my speedo said when I crossed the finish line. The challenger whooped my ass haha! I will upload more vids soon!

The actual race starts at 1:00 min.

He was modded out. If he was stock that would have been a different story. That R/T was hanging with and beating some Stock SRT-8's at that event! You will see in the video I posted above! It was a blast anyway.

Quarter Mile Time Compilation-slip1.jpg

Quarter Mile Time Compilation-slip2.jpg

Quarter Mile Time Compilation-slip3.jpg

Quarter Mile Time Compilation-slip4.jpg

Went to the track last night and got a bunch of runs in. My best run was a 14.679 @ 96.03 which was my best run ever in the TL. I was really excited about it because the first time I went to this track was last winter when it was 55 degrees out. At the time my only mod was the v3 rv6 jpipe and I couldn't get the car down there faster than 15.3. Now I am running 14.6 in 83 degree weather which is a huge improvement for me. I can't wait for another 55 degree day this winter to see if I can get a 14.3 and get a full second off my original time!

At the track I was racing my friend in his Jackson Racing Supercharged Cr-z. He was running 15.3 on most runs. He had the go-pro in his car so it nice to see the difference between 15.3 (where I was originally) and where I am now. The vids are unedited so feel free to skip through us BSing.

My car is 06 5AT with CAI, coolant bypass, outlaw IM thermal gasket, pnp runners, type s cats, and rv6 jpipe.

For 83 degrees and a 5AT without many bolt ons, 14.6 @ 96 is pretty damn solid.

Test N Tune today.

Ran nine times. Decent MPH, shitty times. 8/9 I trapped 100-101, one time was just under 100 (like 99.80), best trap was 100.66. Times were 14.30's-14.50's, and all 60' times corresponded, as in 2.30's were 14.30 runs, 2.40's were 14.40's etc.

Traction was horrid, but whatever. I wish I hadn't swapped back to the stock wheels/BS Potenzas last week, because I'm pretty sure I could have hit 101-102 with the Forgestars/Contis. Have to wait till spring to see what those and the 3.7 manifold/TB swap are worth.

Highlights: Got killed by an SI with a S/C running 8psi, killed by a new Cobb tuned STI. RAPED by an 11.7/127 mph SRT-4. Lost to a Ford Lightning.

Beat an Integra and a Hemi Ram, LOL.

Closest race was a bolted 350Z, he out 60'd me by 3/10 and beat me by the same, but I was reeling him in very slowly after the 1/8. Also got out 60'd by a new Camaro RS with I/E. He beat me by a bit, but I was reeling him in pretty strongly after the 1/8. I had him by 3 mph at the finish. Then there was the ummm...Chevy HR SS, milk truck looking thing that was running 14.1's @ 98 on 2.00-2.10 sixty foot times. Again, I was reeling him in pretty well after the 1/8, but couldn't quite run him down.

I'll get some slips scanned or snap pics of them later. Fun day, all in, and hoping to kiss 102.00 next time out with the summer wheels and 3.7 swap!

Not bad. Are you full interior? When you do the 3.7 intake manifold/TB swap I'd imagine you would see a 1.x MPH gain. With an untouched TB and manifold, I'd say gains should be around 10-12whp for the 6MT 3.2. With a bored TB and port matched manifold I'd say 12-15. If done at the same time as the runners I'd add 3-4 to that as well. Great mod.

.....Waits for Atlas to post his 'so far' () quickest bolt on/street tire J series.....very impressive. 60' is nuts.

Yeah, full interior. Not into gutting the TL. Spare/tools removed, 1/4 tank and some decent weight loss from bolt-ons. Braille battery and 3.7 mani will knock off another 30 lbs.

What did Atlas run?

Honestly at this point, I don't even care that much about ET. I've got the Nitto DR's sitting around just waiting for a cheap pair of 17" wheels, but let's face it, no FWD Honda/Acura is ever going to be a remotely good stop light racer. Maybe once I do the manifold swap and then some cams, then I'll focus on ET more and look for some cheap/light (oxymoron) wheels.

Holy shit, just saw his sig!

"13.644@102.46 w/ 2.058 60'"

What did he do recently? Wasn't he like 14.0x @ 99-100 before?

And what's OEM curb weight on the 7G Accord Coupe 6-6?

You guys are reppin' hard!

Slicks and watch what happens. If Maxima's can get 1.7 60 foots on 26" slicks mounted on 15" and 16" rims, so can TLs which put down around the same power.

Don't bother with DRs. You'll remain stuck in the 2.0-2.1 range which is not better than what a decent driver should be able to manage on street tires.

I'm sure with 5K clutch dumps on properly heated slicks, I would've been running 13.60's, but I don't know if my axles would have survived the day.

Don't dump. Get rolling fractionally and then a quick slip of the clutch. Same applies to running street tires. There's no reason why you can't launch your car at 4,500rpms doing this method. You'll get the best 60 foots and you won't roll the tires into smoke if you're good at modulating the throttle and clutch. Promise. Low 2.2 60 foots are easy and I wouldn't be surprised if you get a 2.1 thrown in there on occasion.

I managed consistent 2.15-2.20 60 foots with my 96 Maxima 5MT (open diff) launching at 4500-5000rpms on 7 y/o Goodyear RSAs 215/60R15 tires. When I first started racing the car, I was launching at 2500-3000rpms and getting too frisky with the clutch. It resulted in bog or excessive spin or a combo of both and very consistent 2.3-2.4 60 foots. What applied to that car applies to yours. Both have very similiar power to weight ratios. The Maxima was going 14.2-14.3s@100mph with 2.1 foots when it was sold. You TL should go 14.0-14.1@101mph with high 2.1/2.0 60 foots.

In terms of PSI, what's a good place to start at on a street tire? I was thinking of starting at 28psi and airing down from there, but not going lower than 23-24psi. I plan on keeping the rears above 40.

I never saw any difference airing the tires down or up. I'd air the rears up to around 45psi, but I don't think it made much difference. The tire width has greater impact on rolling resistance than air pressure.

For the auto guys, I'd recommend airing up the fronts a bit to induce some spin in hopes of reducing bog.

Went to the track today Sorry for some of the crooked slips. FYI, my best pass of 13.57 I missed 4th gear, hence the lower trap. I will upload the video later because I took it with my digital camera and it's a huge file.

Sonnick doing work at the track!

Dude, are you still on regular 215's or whatever for tires? That 3.7 intake/TB swap is no joke. You're into stock 335i/G37 sedan territory on a little 3.0.

You can't not do cams and tune at this point. You'll hit 12's with cams/tune/slicks.
