How do you launch your car off the start????
ok im sure everyone has their own ways of launching the car off the start...it just seems when i push down the pedal it feels like its laging...but i feel the second gear is really nice on the car...i dont know if its bc of low torque or is there a good way to launch the car???

the only reason i've never gone up to 2k is so the other guy doesn't hear me revving up, entering what i call 'sleep revving' (lame, i know)...so the guy starts inching forward, anticipating the light turning green and not hearing me building up my torque...plus i went up to 1.5k one time and my front tires spun after hitting the gas...
and when having to beat someone, rather it be because your lane ends and need to get over or are just going to race someone, i ALWAYS use SS mode...actually, i use SS mode 99% of the time regardless...

on a drag track the automatic is fine. i use tiptronic to get a higher redline
to be honest you can barely hear the other car with your windows up and focused on the rpm's unless they have a loud exhaust. the only thing im worried about is my tranny so i try not to pay attention to the other car until the race starts

I actually just tried doing a idle, 1000rpm and a 2000rpm launch. The 1000 rpm launch seemed to spin tires more for some reason. The 2000rpm launch keeps changing my gear to the 2nd after about 1750 rpm's with my foot on the brake. Am i doing something wrong or am I suppose to floor it like that?
SS mode is just manual mode, right?

i use tiptronic on the highway usually throw a gear down for some high rpms..love the way it pulls off..but of the start im gonna try holding the break...someone told me to put your foot down all the way at the top of the gas pedal, it seems to take off faster as you would normaly push down the gas pedal

Maybe I'm just not understanding this, but why would you brake torque a fwd car? If I floor it from a stop, my front tires will just spin. So why would you want to launch with even more power, that will just make them spin even more and you'll take off even slower. To accelerate the fastest from a stop, I have to launch with only about half throttle and then floor it after it picks up some speed.

To accelerate the fastest from a stop, I have to launch with only about half throttle and then floor it after it picks up some speed.
I've found that the TL launches best by shocking the convertor. One foot on the brake and one ready to stomp the gas but no powerbraking.
Once more of the turbo TLs come out we're going to see more powerbrake launch and rolling power brakes.

An AT will launch hardest when there is no powerbraking. Powerbraking actually accomplishes the opposite of what most folks think. Powerbraking causes less power at initial launch.
IHC hinted at this concept when he used the them "shocking". I recommend folks to Google the following term to learn more if they are interested.
"transmission converter flash stall"
When an auto is hit hard with the throttle from a dead idle (no powerbraking), the converter supplies a magical boost of torque for a fraction of a second. And, this is a SUBSTIANIAL amount of magical torque that is produced during the initial launch.
If you check my 0-60 vid, you will see that I used this flash to help my launch. But, this only applies if the flash does not blow-away your traction. In real drag racing, if you lose traction, you usually lose the race.
This is why folks with limited traction can launch better with powerbraking. By powerbraking, they are killing that magical boost (flash) that would blow away their traction.
