Honda and Acura Dynos

While hanging out with the 9G Accord folks on FB, I provided them with some dyno information regarding this as well as other Accord/TSX/TL variants.

I figure I'd provide the same info here as well (Note: these may be posted elsewhere on Azine but I'll centralize the information here as well):

2013 Accord V6 EX-L 6MT Coupe (J35W2) vs 2007 Acura TL Type-S 6MT (J35A8)

http://sohc.vtec.net/article_files/1...07tl-s_6mt.gif

TOV Commentary: "These dyno runs were performed at the same dyno facility but several years apart, so there could be discrepancies there. Also, the '07 TL Type-S was tested during much warmer conditions, but the dyno software corrects for that difference using SAE conversion factors (in this case, the '07 TL Type-S' results were corrected upwards by a factor of 4%. There is zero correction applied to the 2013 Accord's results as conditions were close enough to the SAE's base conditions). Here, the Accord's engine outperforms the TL Type-S, on paper at least. The TL's J35 has the advantage of an extra point of compression (11.0:1), which means the TL Type-S requires Premium Unleaded. The Accord's listed 10:1 CR means it runs just fine on Regular Unleaded. For the dyno plots seen here, we don't know what type of fuel was in the tank as the car was delivered to us with a full tank. On this day, the Accord's J35W2 outperformed the TL's J35A8, mostly in the 4000-6000 rpm range, but please note that even though the Dynojet is supposed to correct for conditions, it's possible that the extra ambient heat present during the TL Type-S testing could account for a bit more power loss due to the ECU possibly pulling some timing out for safety's sake. This is why dyno testing 2 different cars on the same day or under the exact same conditions makes for more valid comparisons. For now, even though it appears that the new Accord is about 5hp stronger than the TL Type-S, we'll call it a draw."

Dyno Comparison: 2013 Accord EX 6MT Coupe vs 2012 Acura TSX SE 6MT

http://sohc.vtec.net/article_files/1...4W1vsK24Z3.gif

TOV Commentary: "Here we are comparing the Accord to its closest K24Z cousin, which is the K24Z3 found in the 2nd generation Acura TSX. The K24Z3 lacks the K24W1's direct injection, but the K24Z3 runs a similar compression ratio and is rated at 201hp. For this dyno test, we tested with regular 87 octane unleaded in the Accord and the 2012 TSX SE was tested with 93 octane premium unleaded at an earlier date.

The K24W1 nearly matches the K24Z3's peak power while surpassing the K24Z3 to the tune of 10lb-ft in peak torque. As the curves show, the K24W1 delivers 10-20b-ft more torque pretty much everywhere in the rev band. As a result, the horsepower curve closely mirrors the K24Z3s, but it is shifted to the left on the RPM axis by about 400rpm. The only reason the K24Z3 pips the K24W1 in peak output is because it makes a late surge from 6500rpm to the 7300rpm rev limiter, but from 5000-6500rpm the Accord's K24W1 is up by roughly 15-20hp vs the TSX's K24Z3, and you can certainly feel this advantage on the road. Yes, it might be an issue with your office system (filter maybe).

For some reason, I cant see the dyno charts on my iphone but I see them fine on my laptop.

KTuner for 13-14 Accord; I wonder if this will make its way to the TLX 2.4L at some point.

Looks like a decent bump in power with the 6MT and HFPC/DOWNPIPE KIT:

No problem. If you don't mind, I'm going to share your slips with the 9G Accord group on FB. I think it will stir the pot with these guys when they see the wolf in sheeps clothing that is your 7G Accord. :toocool:

Did it again fellas! Acura TL 2008 Comptech Base model 5AT ran 304whp/280wtq at 2.2psi on E85. That means more than the 330whp at 5psi that I dreamed of making when I started the Acura Comptech mission.
