I was leaving from a late lunch and was on my way home. I noticed a blue Golf R was behind me and following close, looked exactly like this:



As we got onto the onramp heading towards the freeway, there was a large clearing of traffic and I couldn't help myself. I dropped to 2nd at 50mph and punched it with the Golf still right on my tail. As I shifted 3rd, I had a small jump on him and continued to pull until I was in the middle of 4th. I'd say I was around ~ 1 car length ahead, they're quick! Especially if he turned up the boost ..

They come with a k04 stock too so they are def more moddable than the regular 2.0T's.

I'd like to run one too, don't think it would give me too many problems unless modded tho.

I doubt a stock Golf R would give you any trouble from any speed, even with a terrible launch.

Altima is OK, nothing to brag about really. I'd say it's a 98 / 99mph car at best with lots of room to mod. Between headers, Y-Pipe and a tune .. it'll probably net about 40whp / 35wtq. All speculation of course, but the VQ motors are potent when given some breathing room.

From what I have seen stock, the Altima is a low 14 second ride. Mods really open her up.

^ Yeah, I've heard mid to low 14s as well. The torque is a lot of fun, just makes driving FWD that much harder lol

I'll be ready to run in a week or two. I just ordered all new fluids (clutch, brake, coolant, oil, filter, etc) and figured at almost 100k miles, it can use the TLC.

Nice run Tyler! The Golf R's are pretty quick, but the top end of your VQ should overtake it easily as you did.

You had the Accord for how long? Never dyno'd. Now you have the Altima for 2 months and dyno. Son of a.............

Very true, the Altima comes with a VQ35? 40whp after a couple bolt ons is very nice, is it true an intake doesn't do much for power on that motor?

The previous owner provided me with the dyno sheets ... I kick myself every time I think about what the Accord was putting down.

Judging from that race with the E36 M3 swapped E30 / other cars, I'd say it was around 235whp and around a 99 / 100mph car.

I hear the intakes don't do much, it really depends on which one you get.

I hear intake manifolds, Y-Pipe and larger exhaust is the way to go. Give any engine more breathing room and you're bound to see some gains .. nothing quite like the K though .

I've heard CAI's don't do anything for these cars, and that sometimes they lose power. I've heard that the G35s lose power with a CAI and no tune or MAF, not sure if it's the same with the Maxima.

I didn't feel much on the butt dyno, but the sound in the cabin is great .

Sonnick, has the J30 / J32 gotten any attention from Hondata? I briefly skimmed the thread about the J35 from the TL-S but didn't see anything about the older Js.

That's about the only positive thing with speed density vs mass air flow. Speed density cars might not make much more with a CAI, but they shouldnt lose power like the MAF cars often do.

Those little AWD R32's I've seen them hit 13.9's with really good drivers and changing tires. They are a bit heavy I'd say.

I'll capture a video with my TL up against my buddies Altima SER, they got torque and dyno'd 220 whp. Will see they do pound per pound stock. I'll be at a disadvantage as i will be heavier by 200 lbs.

I installed my Racingline Y-Pipe this weekend and felt good gains throughout the power band.

Apparently Hondata is trying to find an 06 6MT TL in the SoCal area to test fit an ECU from the 07 and try the FlashPro If that works, I'm almost positive the Accord will see Hondata because the TL ECU is basically PnP with the exception of a pin or 2.

NM, I found it in the Flash Pro thread. I don't know though. Even if it does end up happening, I doubt I'll do it. By the time you buy the FP, new ecu, harness, immobilizer, flat bed the car to wherever you're going to get the immobilizer programmed (or change it there), then get the car dyno tuned, it's going to be close to 2K. Won't be worth it unless people are getting decent numbers.
