First big boy kill in the M240i

After a full month of ownership, I finally got chased down by a worthy opponent. I was out running around earlier tonight and spotted a grey C6 Vette way back, zigging and zagging through traffic. I was cruising along around 60-65 and got a little excited when I saw the potential run. I knew something was going to go down. He caught up quickly, then slowed a bit in my blind spot. I had my driver's side window cracked and as soon as I heard him hit it, I followed suit. After a split second of turbo lag, he was fully in my left peripheral, but not for long. We went from 60-65 to 100-105 (traffic ahead) and I pulled an easy car length. We caught the light a quarter mile ahead and he wouldn't even look over. Think he was a little upset he got smashed by a Baby Bimmer, lol. Pretty sure he was stock, but they still trap 113 all day, so I'm pretty confident I'll trap 115 mph when we finally get a dry track day. Plan to dyno, too. Burger's test 340i with just a JB4 put down 380/380 (Dynojet STD) wheel on a 320/332 stock crank rating. The M240i is rated 335/369 crank stock, so I'm guessing I'm around 395 whp (more like 380-385 SAE) with JB4/intake and not sure on the torque.

Yeah, I'll have to start a thread on it! Fun car for sure. I'll always love the TL though. As awesome as the ZF 8 speed is, I still miss driving manual.

Lol, what's up Alex. Yeah, the B58 is stout. Ran a stock C7 about a month ago and it was a dead heat 20-100, then I let off. That, (and the C6 mash-up, and the 12.3 time slip) were all 4+ PSI over stock, and now I'm playing with a 6+ PSI map. I think I can go 12.10's on this map without touching the exhaust, 11.90's with a catless DP and a splash of 100 octane. I did get humbled by an F10 M5 though. The torque is a blast, and the car is a riot, but to be honest, I still miss the VTEC theatrics and the sound of the TL. Honestly, the C6 is a great car. Starting to become more affordable, good reliability and a stout aftermarket. Wouldn't take much money to make one school me like the M5 did.

Very impressive run with the C7. You gotta post some pictures of the new whip for sure! Did you get a manual or is it the 8 speed ZF transmission? How does hold up with all that torque? Hopefully I'll be in the market for a new car around Christmas time. Just bought my first home so that's taking up all my time and money lol. I love the C6, the look the sound and you are right with a little money it could be much quicker. You mentioned an F10 M5 spanking you, can you imagine if it had a tune, downpipe and some race gas?? LOL

Yeah, the M5's get silly fast with mods! Congrats on the house. Smarter than dumping money on cars for sure. And yes, I did get the ZF8. I love manuals, but wasn't willing to sacrifice the 3-4 tenths penalty in straight line speed (just the opposite of older Hinda transmissions). Should hold up fine. Several manufacturers are using them. Dodge, BMW, Jaguar I believe. I will do a drain and filter/pan assy on it around 50-60k even though BMW claims it's lifetime fluid.
