Battle of the Sixes! 03 AV6 vs E90 328i

I had a great run in with a E90 328i, equipped with the 3.0L 230hp 200tq 6AT! I did a little research after our run in and found out they run 0-60mph in the low-mid 6's and 1/4 mile times in the 14.7 range. If there are any BMW fans that can assist on the times that would be great! Are these engines underrated?

Anyway, on to the race! So I am driving to get my Carls Jr. Breakfast sandwich this morning on a beautiful stretch of california highway. The light in front of me turns red and the highway has 3 lanes at this point. About a 1/8 mile ahead of the light, it drops down 1 lane to 2 lanes in total. The right lane must merge left. I am in the middle lane, a Jeep GC is in the left lane and a white BMW E90 Sedan pulls up to my right. A blonde girl with her boyfriend are in the vehicle. At first I am not sure which model it is as the 328i and 335i look similar and I am not a BMW expert, but can easily tell from the rear end via the exhaust pipes or the badges. Of course I can't see the rear yet. I figure if its the 335i, I will be seeing the rear very quickly! Okay so the light turns green for us and I am off slowly to see what she does, and then I see her nail it. Luckily for me I was ready and follow suit! Both of us got a great start. Off the line was really close up until 15 or 20mph I started to pull. At the end of 1st gear she is at my gas cap or so, through my second gear I extend my lead, pulling at a nice steady rate to extend the gap to 1 full car at 70mph. by the time I hit 75mph the lane is coming to an end for the BMW and she merges behind me. I had already let off by then with a huge grin on my face and rush of adrenaline! All I could think about is that those two couldn't believe they just got whooped by a honda accord coupe that sounds like its on steroids!

I still didn't know what model it was until they pulled up to me at the next stop light and I saw the 328i badge. I had figured it was the 328i as a stock 335i would have made short work with me. They wanted to go again but it wasn't worth getting pulled over. They were pretty cool though. I haven't been to the 1/4 mile track with all my mods yet but I am assuming I am in the low 14's now.

I'm a little surprised those 328s can run the 1/4 in under 15 seconds, i pulled on one with my stock 5AT (not by much). And the 5At TL stock generally runs the 1/4 at about 15 flat.

I am assuming the under 15 seconds requires DS mode and a brake TQ. If you run into the regular person just flooring it, then it maybe a low 15 second car. I have never ran one at the track so I am only going off stats from magazines. Even on dragtimes.com there is not a single E90 328i that has posted a track time, only a 6MT that posted his Beltronics Vertor meter time.
