This makes me sad because I have a 07 TL-s 5at. I'm not expecting to have a super car but damn from all the posts here it seems like the 5at just sucks balls and can't even beat a turtle on a bicycle.

What would I need to do for a tranny swap? Would this even be worth it or would I just end up with a big mess?

A tranny swap is a waste of time. If you're looking for a 6 speed, I suggest trading in

its quick for what it is. its a sport luxury sedan. fwd mind you. a lot of other car makers have stepped up the power where Honda has always been somewhat lacking

i have an 02 TL-S and never felt that power was inadequate. maybe try resetting your ECU if your car feel sluggish. the car adapts to your driving style. sometimes thats all it needs.

Civics i wouldnt worry too much about.

but the TL is not the car to be racing

You don't buy a TL-S to be the fastest car on the street. Don't get me wrong, it can beat many street cars.

Driving a 3G TL-S at age 23 is nothing to be sad about. And look at the bright side: it's still faster than a base model 5AT.

Trade it in for a 6MT if it bothers you that much. I don't know what new civic you would have trouble taking out. Maybe a modded SI or a swapped hatch. Nothing wrong with a TL-S 5AT IMO

I pick my (few battles) and this car (SS mode is an absolute must, and I try to stay away from digs) has surprised me more than once on the road- shes gotten some nice kills under my belt where i was "unsure of how this is going to unfold" races - and Ive been apart of a few respectable deaths where I know the owner of the other car was like..well damn...didnt expect that- just enjoy it dude

There's a larger difference than normal between auto and manual in the Honda world but it's greatly exaggerated around here. They're all 14 second cars, 5at, 6mt, TL-S, and base. People claiming how the 6mt is a whole different car have probably never driven a fast car before.

I agree and disagree. There is most definitely a big difference between the 5AT and 6MT. Is it enough to say it's a 'different car?' No, which I myself am guilty of saying. But it is a pretty big difference with the right driver. But I'll agree it is overexagerrated (which I am guilty of ).

My friend has a 5AT Accord, stock. I had CAI/Jpipe and an extra passenger. After he got a 1.5 car head start, I put an easy 2 cars on him from a 65 roll to about 105. Also, from a dig I ran a modded 5AT (I/E) while I had I/E/PCDs/Jpipe/IM. While I had about 20whp worth of mods more, I have to say I put about 5 cars by 80mph.

But that's neither here nor there, a 5AT TL-s is nothing to be sad about. What's the point of this thread again?

Im confident you would smoke me but it would be fun to run a stock 6MT with my set-up. I think it would be a decent run from a dig through the end of 3rd gear. From a roll I would lose though especially a high roll.

I can see it being a really good race up until mid 3rd as well. The ATs 4th gear is a little too long. It's even worse in the TL.

Let us know how those mounts help on Friday I'm shocked the vibration isn't so bad, that's awesome!

I have a TL-S with exhaust, j-pipe, test pipe, intake, and pulley.

From 30-80, a 5AT G37 put about 1 car on me.

POS? Hell no...My four-door car with maybe 270HP to the crank stayed close to a two-door (albeit one that weighs about the same) that had at least 20HP on me.

I have a 07 base 5AT and I beat a TSX 04 with an intake . I can beat a lot more car . But actually I just beat people . Don't worry not a lot people have enough bravery to race all the way or skills enough to get the fastest of the car. I think all the post have the sentences " depend on your skills and his skills" . Actually, I buy the base 5AT and never go with 6MT because I want to slow myself down ( 18 yrs boy don't want to die soon )

If it makes you feel any better your TL-S 5AT would spank my base TL 5AT.

As much as I wish my TL-S is a 6MT, I still love my 5AT.

A TL-S MT or not it can beat a lot of cars out there.

I like your thread topic! It really drew my attention. I thank you for that.

Yes, the Automatic TL and TL-S suck. It's terrible because it's still on ancient 5 speed transmission and the gearing is insanely tall. 4th gear gets worse.. same goes for the 5th. If I remember correctly the 5th gear is good for over 220 mph so you get the idea how tall it is. With 283 hp & 250 some tq it won't cut it. If the TL was equipped with close ratio 7 speed auto it would have been much better off. Generally automatic cars do poorly from highway pulls..but especially the Honda and Acura are a fail.... though I'm seriously thinking about buying an mint conditioned '97~'01 NA2 Acura NSX in a month or so. I can't believe I'm thinking about buying an Honda product.

You're not getting an NSX. You couldn't keep up with payments on your IS350. I told you if you ever posted in here again I was going to expose you. Can't wait till I get home to show everyone what you look like, your home address, your name, and proof you're "manual transmission", "meow cat" and your disturbing kitty porn.

While I'm waiting to get on the computer where I have all of your stuff saved I might as well shove my foot up your ass once again.

A 7 speed will not make a car any faster. More gears are there only to help meet fuel economy standards.

5th gear on the 5at is "insanely tall" for fuel economy. Low rpms at a higher throttle opening will get better mpg than high rpms at a low throttle opening. The 5at gets about the same mileage as the 6mt, there's a reason for that. You would understand this if you could pull your head from your ass.

And last, if your parents' made you give up the IS350 and downgrade to the MS3, why on earth do you think they would give you an NSX? Is this going to be one of those fictional NSXs you had in your sig on the other boards that you got called out on and then banned?

Mods, why is this guy allowed to use at least two different usernames on here?

More gears = faster car?

If that's the case, why is it Alcohol Funny Cars are still running Lenco 3 speeds?

Don't even worry about this guy. He's all over the internet in various forums posting BS. He's been banned from just about every site he's registered at. He has 12 youtube accounts that I've found so far. He has at least 2 on here (Manual Transmission). My favorite one is Meow Kitty on the Lexus forums. Dude knows nothing about cars but whichever one he has at the time is the best thing ever. He seems to make a career out of trolling the car forums, youtube, and AV forums. But this time I have every bit of his personal info. The end to the trolling is near.

Quick Reply: After reading here the TL-S 5at seems to be a POS
