Acura Seller: Need Advice

I have a 1990 Integra LS Vtech with 168000 clean title. The body and interior need a lil work but the engine runs great. I am the second owner looking to sellout. My problem is this. I have been told by Acura aficionados that its a sought after engine and can get top dollar.
I have NO idea what to sell it for.
I have seen on craigslist a souped one, same make and model, for 2800. My body and interior are much less desirable but the engine has 100,000 less miles.

Any help in direction would greatly be appreciated.

Steve

the engine found in your LS integra is a dime a dozen engine.

its not worth any more or extra...

put the car up for $2000 and see what kind of hits you get. most likely you wont get your asking price due to body and interior.

Considering a busted frankensteined 2004 Acura TL with tasteless mods sells for $10k, I think you could easily get $12k.

What engine is in it? The LS Integra never had VTEC. Infact, the Integra never had VTEC until 1992, so I'm guessing it's a swapped engine.

It's hard to give you an estimate without knowing ANY details of the car or ANY photos either.

I'm guessing it's rusted? Whats wrong with the interior? has the timing belt/waterpump/tensioner been replaced? Does it burn or leak oil? I'm assuming the suspension bushings have never been replaced either. How are the tires? Brakes? etc, etc...

I myself would offer you no more than $1500 for it. Even if it is a "desireable" engine, I have no idea who swapped it, and what condition it is in. I also didn't think the B-series engines were all that desirable anymore, but I haven't been on Hondatech in years.

You might find a High School kid looking to pick it up. I'd offer it for maybe 1900-2000 and then settle on 1500.

Thanks. I guess I got bad info on the engine. ITS DOHC not Vtech. But this helps tremendously. It had only one owner before I got it. And Im sure never did anything extra to it.
Thanks a lot. Its always humbling to learn something new.

back in the late 90s and early 2000's yes, the B18 was something special.
but with the updated engine the K24, it has made the b18 obsolete.

now, no one wants the b18 engine, because they rather swap the K24 in which makes a lot more power than the B18.

Scuba Steve, don't listen to Marge. She gets her panties in a bunch when her pink poodle curls dont come out right.

She's also just jealous that she doesn't get the benefits I do, working at the local Tacobell drive thru.

Remember, you can always ask whatever you like, but that doesn't mean people will bite. You can lower your price from there and see what happens.

GS-Rs and K24s are so played out.. people now realize the LS B18s is where it's at. It's the perfect harmonious match between driver and car.. similar to the AE86.

Somewhat true. But swapping a K series engine is still pretty pricey and requires a lot of work getting the engine into cars designed to hold B series engines. Many guys will opt for the B series VTEC engines, simply due to ease and cost effectiveness. There's better stuff out there these days, but it still improves the car over the non-VTEC variants.

But yes, more and more are turning to K series swaps, but not everyone. And like Mr.Crabs pointed out, the non-VTEC B18 engine which the LS Integra had is a dime a dozen. 98% of Integras built between 1989-2001 have them. Unless yours was swapped. Then that might be a different story.

The B18C1, B18C5 (both North american) or the B18C or B18C-R (Both japanese) are. Same with the B17, B16a, B16b.

B18a or B18b... not so much.

Scuba Steve, if you look at the front of your engine, you'll see the code stamped on it as to what it is. it's about 1.5" x 2" in size. See what you have.

It's stamped right here:

yeah, just by looking at it, that's a B18a or B18b (I can't remember), regardless, it's a non-vtec variant. The car looks to have seen some better days. If it runs/drives ok, I'd post it for $1500-1900 and see what happens.

Do you have another car purchased already? If not, do you know what you're going to buy? Just curious, is all.
