Technically, the K24A in the Accord is an I4 (or inline 4) not a V4.

Currently owning an 07 AV6 EX-L sedan, I had the chance to try out the 07 Accord K24A 5AT (as well as an 07 AV6h) several months ago. Honestly, the 4 cylinder felt 'a bit more spirited' off the line than my AV6 but starts to lose steam right at speeds where the J30A5 starts to come alive. So, if the speeds don't go too high then the K24A Accord could give the AV6 a good run in a street run.

For anyone interested, the AV6h did not feel as torquey as its advertised torque level would indicate. I'm pretty confident the AV6 could run on equal footing with the AV6h when it comes to acceleration.

I am still convinced that the 06-07's AV6 autos are much slower than the 03-05's. I have a friend with a 03 Accord Coupe 4cyl LX 5MT. I take him from any and every speed we race from including a dig. His car hangs with my dads 98 AV6 off the line but once they hit second gear my dad starts pulling at a nice pace.

You are right about the Hybrids. At the track they don't run any faster than a stock AV6 and actually trap a mph slower than a regular AV6. I don't know why Honda advertised the hybrid being a half second faster than the AV6. Maybe on Full charge it is!

Hmm..interesting...I worked at a Honda dealership before and the V6 felt stronger at any rpm compared to the 4-cyl AT Accords. The 4-cyl 5AT Accords felt like the TSX 5AT (driven these a few times whenever I bring my car in for maintenance), which is pretty sluggish off the line.

Well my opinion on it isn't really based on the street racing aspect of it. It's based on track results. Every 1/4 mile time I have seen or heard of for the stock 06-07 accord V6 autos are slower than the stock 03-05's accord autos. Like for example F23A4 on this website ran a 16.3. Most times are between 15.3-16.3(F23A4 was the worst time I have ever heard of for the 7th gen lol sorry) for the 06-07 accord v6 autos. Where the 03-05 accord V6's autos run between 14.9 and 15.3. All times I am referring to are stock times. Now obviously elevation, temp, DA all change things. Now the 6spds don't seem to follow the same path. They all seem to run mid-low 14's stock depending on the driver of course.

The best stock time for a 08-09 Accord V6 auto that I have seen is 15.0@94.6MPH. So in reality its a good drivers race with a 7th gen AV6 and Base TL auto.

yea i hear you but on a site that i had read it saidthe 1/4 mile time for the auto V6 2007 Accord Sedan was 15.1 or something like that and again yes it is drivers race and all that good stuff..lol my sister has a 2004 TL and i raced her about 4 times and everytime i beat her be either half a car or a full car length..nd are friend was there with a type S and he was like no no way he told my sister to let him drive her car and race me and still same result after that he was like damn i gotta give the accord respect and some credit after that..lol.. but everytime site is diffrent with times and specs..i heard F23 ran the 16.3 in the V6 i think he got sold a 4 cylinder in a V6 body haha i dont know that is the worst to come from a V6..i gotta take mine to the track one day for shits and giggles my friend told me to take it he was like youll run 14.s all day so will see

No offense taken; I didn't get the AV6 to run it at the track. I just wanted to see how it would do. (If I was still more into running at the track -- which I've 'outgrown' -- I'd have retained my 02 Maxima. )

That said, my AV6 seems to do well when it comes to midrange acceleration; assuming the speedo is not overly optimistic, it seems to accelerate as quickly as my old Maxima.

Both are great cars.

I am looking into purchasing a 02-03 Maxima 6MT for my second car. They seem to be very inexpensive. I found one with 76,000 miles for about 7800 bucks. I want to find one from a private party though and not a dealer. You never know the history on the cars even with a car fax. I am willing to wait for the right vehicle!

quick car, but aftermarket support has really gone down the drain for it xP i think alot of the big names back in the day that produced parts for it have either gone out of business or stopped producing them. but you can always buy used parts or drop ins xP

There was never much in the way of aftermarket support for the 5.5G Maxima but you can still get your hands on the usual suspects. (i.e.: Injen CAI, UR Pulley, Technosquare ECU flash, etc,...) But Cattman and Hotshot seem to out of the picture (somewhat), and the used parts market is a definite way to go.

That said, the VQ35 performance aftermarket is mostly geared towards FM applications more than the FFL vehicles.
