99 Maxima vs. 99TLP

i have a 99TLP with a few mods (listed below in sig).
my friend has a 5speed manual 99Maxima SE. (he was at the acurazine cruise down to AC Sema show) so some of you might know him and saw his car there.

he has Injen CAI, Cattman Catback Exhausts, Hiflow Catalytic convertor and a few other things

one day we were driving on River Rd (edgewater).. its a 2 lane road with traffic lights at approx every quarter mile. the streeets were very empty and decided to go for a run to test out eachothers cars. (we usually dont race no matter how much we drive around, just because NJ is too crowded and filled with potholes.. but just for fun). we were stopped at a red light, side to side.

sitting on the red, i turned off AC and TCS, popped the shifter into SS mode. he was on first gear revving and on his clutch.. as soon as the light dropped to green we both gunned it. my car (riiding on stock wheels) were spinning for a split second, his car (riding on Yoko TS-1) just shoots out.. he gets an awesome start, but once i get into second im dead even with him.. at 3rd, i flew right passed him about a good 2-3 car lengths..

he pulls up next to me and he yells, "yo SS auto is not that bad! your vtec sound also sounds awesome! that was definitly fun, great race! let's do it again after my headers are in!"

hahaha. before he gets his headers in, i need the exhausts, springs/shocks, and a new set of rims and tires. but yes, first race in a really long time and it was definitly an awesome rush!!! i didnt think i would win, but i guess the max and TL are pretty much the same weight, plus we have more HP at stock.

Your friend is a nice kid, I remember him riding down with us to SEMA. I had no clue his car was a stick though. Nice kill Aaron.

yeah the 99 maxima 5speeds are actually pretty quick stock, my brother has one and ran a 15.3 at the track @92mph. Once I get my TL i will race him and see who wins the stock race.

If you dont beat a 92 mph trap you should return your car and ride a tricycle.

well.. according to motor trend 2000 3.2TL does 0-60 in 6.7 seconds and does a quarter mile in 15.2sec/93.1mph. so i think its just really close to what vtechtl00 was saying at stock..
