14 F-ST Cobb Stage 1 vs APR Stage 1 2001 Audi TT only in Mexico

Buddy got an Audi TT not to long ago, ran into some money and decided to throw some basic bolt on's

2001 Audi TT- custom exhaust, intake, bpv upgrade, APR Stage 1 tune.

2014 Focus ST- custom exhaust, turbosmart hybrid bov, high flow green filter, cobb ap v2 stage 1 93 oft tune.

first race we both started in 2nd gear at 40mph, ran to about 120mph, or so.

second run we did a 45-50ish roll and I assume he started in second but I kept mine in 3rd and ran the gear to almost redline (usually i shift at 5.5k) to about 120 again.

I'd say about a 4 car or so win, not to bad. also this is the 6 speed 225hp model of the TT.

I did .

I often get questioned why, but my reasons are very good for selling it.

my brother and I both have Logistics companies, I wanted to get rid of the high maintenance costs from the BMW (it needed pads, rotors, brake sensors, alternator as well as the entire alternator assembly. The trans was also sticking and would get stuck at red line, crazy)

Anyways, I got a STEAL of a trade in price for my BMW and the Focus had like $6500 in rebates that i qualified for.

Anyways, long story short, my interest rate is now 7% less on the Focus since it's new and has a full warranty. Also it's SO nice driving a manual car again...lol.

Best part? The dealer couldn't sell my BMW and every since they took it in on trade, they lowered the price 4k and then ended up taking the car to auction. the 335i/135i's have CRASHED hard core in price.

I don't blame you. They're pretty iffy when it comes to repairs. It seems some people only go through one HPFP and some people have a laundry list of problems like multiple pumps, injectors, turbos etc. Too bad, because they're such awesome cars if you've got a fat wallet. DrDoS is making 753whp on a single 6466!

Anyway, the Focus should be pretty reliable. Do you think you're in the 13's with it?

yeah, I'm def in the 13's. A full bolt on, stock turbo focus st has ran into the mid 12's with 110+ trap, so their is potential. I honestly don't know if I'll do all that though.

As work increases, money flow gets a bit better as well as credit, I may take advantage of the good deal I got on the car and sell it next year. Then i can finally pick up what I REALLY want, is a white with coral red 08-09 135i...I absolutely adore them and feel like I'll always be a BMW guy. Even though my 335i had some issues, it's hands down been my favorite car yet, that's saying something considering it was automatic.

Sorry to hear about the issues with the 335i. I was considering a used one as a replacement for my Accord which is coming off lease. (Maybe I'll research the E90 330i a bit.)

Don't let my bad luck scare ya. The 330i would be an awful car to drive when compared to the 335i. I just suggest a 335i, year 08+, mine was an 07, quite a horrible year for them.

Also, if you can I'd say stay away from dealers, you'll find the cleanest and most well kept ones on forums.

I've driven the E90 330i not too long before the replaced it with the N54 model that I test drive soon after. It's performance clearly falls short of the 335i, but I could live with it.

Uh oh, I just bought a 2007 335i. I shoulda got the warranty haha. I dunno, theirs a small chance I might get an e90/e92 m3 next year. I had 2 supercharged e46 m3s before, and I must say this 335i is damn near identical in driving had it not been for the superchargers. I must say i'm very happy with the car and hope that I dont have constant problems, but I've heard good stories and bad stories so hopefully this car will fall into the former.
