You play nice, I be nice. And you won't get sent to orbit again. CAPISCE?!?!??

Generally speaking, the 1st gen is350 with TC off will rip any 3G TL 0-60. There were some tests that were getting into the upper 4 second range. They're geared deep. From higher speeds, it's a different story. The 2nd gen is350 is slower since it gained a couple hundred pounds with no change in power.

The TLS 6 speed pulling on the IS350 in that youtube video is a flaw because one pushed to the limit, the other (IS350 driver) has no clue driving it. He might have done normal driving not racing. In realistic world, IS350 is much faster than any Acura TL's from dig. Even from roll the IS350 will still be faster, say from 60 or 80, or even 100. It has very strong third gear (better than that of 350z, G35, G37, Acura TL-S and many more). Also the 4th gear is almost as short as that of Acura TL-S 6 speed, but Lexus has better rear axle drive ratio and more hp and torque. You can tell this easily when actually drive one at higher speeds under throttle. 4th gear tops out at 125mph@ 6500 rpm. That's very beefy. I take out most cars from roll too, from 3rd and 4th gear pull. It doesn't only shine from 0-60. it's really good till 125. 5th gear is descent too, but not as strong as some of the short geared vehicles like Evo, HR350z, 370z, G37 6MT, etc.

Sure, it might be geared and powered for 0-60 .. but considering it doesn't have a limited slip differential & only offered in auto makes it as boring as any other 4 door Lexus.
A lot of people got the wrong impression thinking that the IS350 is only good for 0-60. This is completely untrue. Please read my comment above. As for not having LSD, it still outperformed the G35 in the laptime at Willow Springs, with TL-S being first. But that was an old model IS350 they tested. The F-Sport package found in the newer models further improves handling especially in the steering department. It's super tight and precise. ECU programming is also different on the newer models ('11~ '13" IS350 F-Sport).

With equal drivers, I'd still put my money on the 6MT HR 350z.
If both cars are equally stock, considering both have carpets, owners manual, spare tire intact, with same number of gallons of fuel with good drivers the IS350 will have the edge. The reason why IS350's lost in some of the youtube videos is because it's fan biased, and often there are heavy items in the vehicle that hurt performance. Many people don't know how to push IS350 to the max. There are techniques required, it's not that simple as you think because it's an automatic. And if you use the SS mode properly you can control the acceleration real well. The paddle shifters are used as gear limiter and can be very useful.

I don't own MS3. It will be a close race, but the IS350 will still take the edge upto about 125 mph. From 125 up, the MS3 will have the slight advantage. You really shouldn't be going 150 mph races anyway as it's too dangerous.

TL-S even with a super driver won't stand a chance considering both cars stock with same setup. I have never been defeated by any cars in my IS350 up to date. Only that I have beat a lot of cars, both from dig and roll. Honestly, TL/TL-S are not my threat. The only threat I feel is when I run into modded STi, Evo, or Nissan GTR. I am not even worried about the new Mustang GT 5.0 from dig. IS350 not only has shorter gears but the rear axle gears are short.

Good post.

2nd gen IS350 is actually named "3IS". Yes they have increased curb weight and body size as well with a tad longer wheelbase. But the gearing in the 8-speed is quite good as it came directly from IS-F counterpart. 4th gear up are tighter than the previous gen. So this will make up some in the high speed rolling pulls. But I do not like the fact that the new gen IS350 is heavier. Weight always kills speed.

Seriously speaking, I won't be far off competing against an Agera R from 0-60. This is true with a lot of cars. In light-to-light city blocks you will be better off with cars with shorter gears. Nissan GTR would be best.

I'd rather have the IS-F, but I don't care for Lexus aesthetics. I think they look... plain and uninspiring. Feels like "confession bear"

I'd do terrible things with susan boyle to have a 6MT TL, even if they are slower than 350s and type-f's.

Seriously speaking, once I upgrade my tires on all my cars, I'll be challenging the McLaren P1 and Koenigsegg One:1 in a race.

Even give them a 1 hour head start.

I wanted to get an IS-F also. If it wasn't for my expensive high-end audio system ($65k+) I would have gotten a brand new 2014 IS-F before they stop production of the model this year.

Lexus 2IS looks great. It's very elegant, sexy, and just beautiful. It has very tight cozy interior. It's more inviting. But the TL inside has too much space and a lot of headroom which I didn't like so much. The rear leg room is also too big. I like it shorter. The leather quality in the IS350 is amazing. You should consider getting one. If you use the paddle shifters wisely it can be a real treat. It feels almost as good as manual tranny.

I'm not saying IS350King/MS3God is entirely correct in everything he's saying but in all the time I've spent on Acurazine I've only seen one real kill story with an IS350 losing. It was some guy with a full bolt-on, 6MT MRP Type-S that was pretty quick at the time (pre-tuning for our cars). He barely managed to beat his brother's I/E IS350. I'm talking barely. IIRC, he would only start pulling him after 125mph. I'll see if I can find the thread.

But, isn't the IS350 quite a bit lighter than the TL...? Built on the Corolla platform.

It's almost more fair if a Lexus fanboi decided to match up the ES against the TL.

I can say from experience that an ES350 will pull away from a base 5AT. No argument there.

No, it's reasonable to assume since it a much smaller car. The IS is RWD so it has added drivetrain weight. Remember too that Honda engineers are pretty experienced in producing a good driver's car. Well balanced in most respects.

Well that depends on the TL. IS350 weighs around 3530 lbs. TL 6MT without the navi weighs 3475 lbs. TL Auto weighs 3650+ lbs. IS350 feels small when you get inside. But the exterior is not quite small. it's wider than the G35.

It's almost more fair if a Lexus fanboi decided to match up the ES against the TL.
ES is slow. May be a good match with the TL 5AT.

It's between an AM and Pagani

but all 3 are slower than the MS3, which is slower than the IS350 because of boost cut out on the lower gears.

and all 5 are faster than Agera R and LFA
