05 RSX-S vs 07 TL-S 5AT

Tomorrow I will be drag racing my TL against my buddy's RSX @ Import Face Off. It will be recorded both from the stands and on my front dash.
I will UPDATE tomorrow evening with the video results.

Neither one of us have raced on a drag strip so this should prove to be a fun experience.

Only listing current performance mods;
RSX
SRI
Magnaflow header back exhaust
Tein Springs
K-pro. This really means nothing because has no experience tuning and knowing him he hasn't taken it anywhere to have someone work with it. Butt who knows

TL-S
CAI
MM delete
RV6 V3 PCDs
RV6 v3 Jpipe
Tein S Tech
Minor weight reduction.
33/66 Redline D4/Type-F
Redline 5-30 100% on OLI
245/17 Brand new tires.

Well, here goes...

Are you sure that's not a base RSX? That was bad. What were your times?

He had traction issues. He later ran a 15.4 sec 1/4

Yeah after today he decided to take it somewhere to have a shop tune it. I'm sure next time we come back to the strip he'll do better.

Nice run for you anyway. Your trap speed seems a little low, but the 14.55 is strong for that trap.

I'm pretty sure I could have done marginally better. Perhaps not bouncing off the rev limiter needlessly.

yea thats a good time, just shift it before bouncing off the rev limiter and your trap speed should go up marginally

Good run on your part. But brand new tires don't really help in acceleration times as it increases more wind resistance and rotational mass. Some worn out tires are better off. This will help both ET and TP. What elevation is that dragstrip?

That's a pretty good run considering it's 1000ft above. The tire debate, yes it can be yes and no. If the tires are worn out too much they will certainly hurt traction. New tires bite the road better, but at expense of higher rotational weight and drag.

My 235-40/18 Continental DW's weighed 22 lbs new. I should have weighed them when they were bald, but they probably weighed somewhere in the neighborhood of 20-21 lbs at that point. Not enough to make any meaningful difference in unsprung weight.

for once, I have to agree with mazdaspeed3god/is350king/etc. For most cars(as long as traction isnt a HUGE issue), getting better tires will not help trap speed, but it will lower your ET.
