04TL vs STI Sedan

05-06 STI: Unknown mods

04 TL: Stock

- 25 roll: I pulled about a half car ahead and stayed till the top of 2nd gear. He then proceeded to destroy me by at least 2-3 car lengths. If not more..

- 40 roll: He pulled right of the bat and I let off at ~80-85mph. He was about 3-4 car lengths ahead of me at minimum.

I got destroyed, but I expected it. .
Sometimes losing is just as fun as winning though.

LOL at race live everyday. Idk man, I just get lucky. But it's unlucky at the same time cause the car's falling apart on me and pushing it hard like this isn't exactly gonna' help it last.

I own an STI, and with even minor mods....downpipe, exhaust and programing, they are extermely fast!!! The only way a TL will hang with a STI is if the TL has a turbo.

LOL, STI's aren't that fast stock. Lots of TL 6MT's with basic bolt ons can easily keep up on a roll.

I wouldn't go that far as to say the TL would need a turbo to keep up with a bolt on STi. Mod for mod it's not even close, but stock for stock on the highway really would be close.

I had an encounter with an Evo 9 on the highway (not the first time). But this one must've been @3-3500 RPM and I was singing away at 6500+ and he was right next to me....hence why I hate boosted cars

I don't know about all that. From a roll a TL 6MT could definitely hang. Stock for stock that is.

I think a TL 6MT with bolt-ons would pull (from a roll) on a stock STI.

Not an STI but it's a bolt-on 5AT TL vs an '09 stage 1 wrx.

Sti's arent all that fast. Your TL just need a nice dose of nitrous. It'll hang with or beat a sti.

nice death.

very easy to upgrade, and start pushing 350+ at the crank (let alone it also being lighter)(btw wife has an wrx, not quite a STI but close though)

If you can find a stock STI.....usually they have at least a turbo back and programming....which will add around 40 whp depending on the combination. Two of my close friends have STI's a 2007 with 315hp to the wheels and a 2005 with 325hp to the wheels, and they are both pretty quick. I've never been in a TL-S so I don't know how fast they are. I have a 2010 TL 6 speed and the STI's will eat me for lunch in a straight line.....I'll pull away in the twisties BTW-my STI has 550whp, so my STI is just plain CRAZY!!!!

Also, Ive raced an 04 STI in the past. It was identical to this race with my current mods. Check the garage in my profile for a full list.

It's cool. I see video reposts as fair game since I put it on youtube. I was actually glad someone linked to it! Glad its finally getting some attention beside from Subie lovers who send me private hate messages on youtube. LOL

LOL. Bet there were quite a few Subie guys that were pissed about this race.

It's all good then, I think. I just used it a reference to show that a TL does not need a turbo to keep up with or beat an STI.

so i can send you hate mail then.... (wife has a WRX ); and once that turbo spools up, it's pulls away, but for everyday driving i love my tl so much more cause of the low end torque (and smoother ride, even being lowered too)

I think the TL would need some serious mods to hang with an STi from a dig/low speeds, and probably would still get beat. From a roll, turbo lag would play a big part and it's anyone's guess.

Nice death though, how do you get these kind of cars to line up with you?

just a matter of YOU trying to line up with them (and not being scared you might lose)(personally i am kinda in the middle territory of them; civics are too slow for me, except for a few of them; while STI and such are kinda out of my reach )

I was just cruising and I heard him downshift coming to a light. Sure enough there was a white STI in the lane to my left. I opened my window and politely asked if he'd like to race.

Serious.

Civics are right up my alley Closest I ever get to racing is battling taxis at lane reductions.
