Hey guy's I raced a 2010 Maxima today and it caught up to me slowly after 70 Mph and won by a fender. What upgrade's can I put so I can smoke that sheet? I have a Automatic 04 w/Navi

Flux capacitor will put you ahead until at least 88mph.

There isn't anything you can do shy of a supercharger to beat a 2010 maxima. They run very low 14's stock. I have heard of some running a 13.9 stock. From a roll they will eat a TL auto alive!! I have seen on youtube a stock 2010 maxima hanging with a G37 from a roll.

They must be modded to run that. There was one at the track running consistent 14.7-14.8 @ 96 mph in 60 degree weather, which is where all the mags put them. I don't see why a bolted base 3G TL couldn't keep up.

CVT wrecks that car, and that's too bad since I like it better than the 6th Gen.

The '10 is heavy and CVT and def aren't consistently running low 14s.

OP I would recommend spending some time on these forums researching what boltons result in power gains and among those which are the best to get and go from there.

come on man, before i got this tl from my brother-in-law i had a 2009 maxima and i had raced this tl against it both stock. i pulled away from the tl EVERY time at various speeds. im not calling you a liar but it is hard to believe. video maybe. the maxima was a beast i loved it but after like 100mph it did feel slugish but it had crazy bottom end, too bad i wrecked it. oh well thats when i got the tl. i have a feeling that my tl now feels like i could keep up with a stock max.

well i never said he was lying but i said it was hard to believe. and i assume the OP is stock since he is asking what mods to do on his tl. and yeah you say you beat a maxima without your pcd's but you had other bolt-ons, i said both were stock when i raced it, and are you talking about the 2009+ model maxima because i have beat many 2008 and below model maximas too with only my cai. and if you pay attention to my post at the end i said that now i feel like my tl can beat or at least keep up with a 09+ maxima and all i have is cai, and rv6 j-pipe. so please pay attention to the WHOLE post before you reply. im not trying to be rude or anything but i just want to clarify i never called the OP a liar.

on another topic, in your sig you say you have PCD w/HFC. who makes these? i thought rv6 were the only ones and i didnt know they were out yet.

Well, that means base 5AT TL's are slow too, since I'm pretty sure they're a little slower than the new Max, stock to stock.

I have seen weights for the 2010 Maxima ranging from 3540-3565lbs which is right in line with the weight of a base 3rd gen TL Auto. That isn't that heavy considering the numbers the VQ puts down. The CVT keeps that engine right in its powerband. Here is a 14.3@99MPH in a stock 2010 Maxima. On youtube there are several more in that range. I found a 2009 Maxima rental car on 87 octane running 14.6@93 haha

Over on the maxima.org, we generally consider the 6th and 7th gen to be pigs because of that 3500-3600lbs... add normal sized a person to that and you're at 3700+. The 4th and 5th gens start much lighter.

I weigh almost 250 lbs and my race weight at the track is anywhere from 3200-3300 depending on the state of my interior. 500 lbs goes a long way... cmon this is a acura (honda) forum, power to weight right!?

In any case, I am just pointing out that the 7g maximas aren't any faster than earlier generation 3.5 equipped maximas. I believe the fastest stock one was a 5.5 gen with 14.0@99.7. If you consider that to mean that a auto 3g TL is also slow, then by all means take that as my meaning.

The whole weight of the car is one thing but remember the weights of the wheels, pulleys, etc. make a car run differently.

correct. It supposedly has HR-like heads and a nicer intake manifold (like the 07+ altima VQ35DE intake manifold), but is the same old VQ35DE in all other respects.

That's also why I said it's not any faster than any of the previous VQ35 equipped maximas (note: this differentiation was intended to point out that 3.0s are not included in my statement).
