Crows feet in paint!
Crows feet in paint!
I know some members have dealt with this issue, what steps were taken to get the paint corrected. Did Acura give you any issues or was it a painless affair with the dealership? I also read they need the car for a week or two as well. I was washing my car today and noticed the roof was covered in them, I never noticed them before and when I went to the other side of the car is couldn't see them. The light had to reflect just the right way and I'm assuming this is why I never noticed them. The trunk was covered as well. Thanks in advance.
i had crows feet, it took a whole month for them to correct it but then again it was my entire car that had the issue.
did you buy your car from acura dealer? are you out of warranty? how many miles? did you buy new or used?

It's a CPO still under warranty, the car has 33k miles on it. I read the paint warranty is up to 70k and they threw in the 7 year 125k mile warranty after the BS the manager did at the dealer. I'm taking it in today to see what they say about it.
Back to topic though, I just got back from the dealership. They just painted a black 2010 TL with crows feet in the paint. The service manager came out and looked, took some pictures and said he will get back to me on Wednesday.
it seems to only happen on 09-11's.. mine was a 2010.. and there was another member that had a 2010 with crows as well.. not sure if this is only happening for that specific year..

The roof is the worse, the trunk and hood have it as well. On the roof between the sunroof and rear window seems to be the really bad area. My car is an early 2011 according to the VIN. I'm going to push for an entire repaint. The manager said one came in last week the same way and they are painting it now.
my guess is that you are not going to get entire repaint.. probably just the metal surfaces.. front bumper, rear bumper, side mirrors were not included for me as they are considered wear and tear parts, pretty much whatever is plastic they will not repaint.
Is that what happened in your case? If so, how does your paint match when you compare metal surfaces and the bumper for example?
i honestly couldnt tell as far as shade of black lol.. its CBP so it is not really hard to match.
my bumper had some wear and tear but that was about it.. black is the easiest color to match out of all the colors.
the paint job was actually better than the original paint. it was much thicker and much more resistant to swirls vs soft acura oem paint.
brock, if i were you, id push to get all metal surfaces painted... its a stretch as there is no need to paint parts that are not affected but the clear coat on your roof vs your door will be different and will affect the appearance of the car

That's what I figured, he said definitely the roof, hood, trunk and spoiler will get repainted. That's if corporate okays the repaint. I'm going to have them swap the grille at that time as well. I got a new one from Nexson to replace the crap painted one.

I've had crows feet in mine...started probably once the car was about 6 years old so too late to do anything about it. I just try and keep her waxed to give a nice overall appearance often.
i got something out of the whole repaint tho.. extra 5 years on my warranty for free.. so my warranty goes up to 100k and expires 2017..
maybe you can go for that.. not sure if its too late for you though

I already got that from dealing with the used sales manager at the Princeton Acura dealer. I'm going to shoot for a discount on the body kit or the 19" diamond cut wheels.
Brock, i hope you have better luck than i did...im in a battle right now with my 2012 cbp that has 10,000 miles on it. I have a few crows feet and i have little circles that the paint is actually popping off. They told me it was caused from the environment. I was pissed to say the least, and the dealership is looking to see if the acura rep will good will it. If not, i will be going up the ladder in the corporate world

That's insane...Honda paint is already delicate enough. I hope they find a solution. Repainting a car after meticulously babysitting the paint would fkng piss me off.
I don't know what the previous owner had done as far as upkeep, but the paint looked pretty good, I had it detailed after I got it by a reputable shop. By Sunday was the first day I noticed them and they were everywhere.
Is your car black? I have 2011 Grigio Metallic and pray this doesn't happen to mine. Not sure if my color is more prone or all colors.
