So my passenger side front compliance bushing on the lower control arm is cracked Ive known this for about a week and order the part at the dealership.
Well I got the part on friday, today I went to have it pressed out but upon having it pressed out the mechanic noticed that I have a small crack in the subframe next to where the bolt is for the bushing... He said that its no sense in changing the bushing until I get a new subframe and was GUN HO to order it right then and there... This I did not like felt like he was trying it get one up on me. Question for u guys is can this be welded?? its so small

It seems to be a small crack like you mentioned. You can weld it but make sure it is done properly. I had that problem on my Eclispe many years ago. However, it was on the cross member and it had to be change. I advise you to monitor the frame if you get it welded; whenever you do oil changes and such just to make sure the frame hasnt begun to crack again.

Thanks for the advice evil... I'm gonna do research as to the proper way to have it welded. Right now I'm having the lower control arm removed to have the old depreciated bushing pressed out and the new pressed in at another recommended shop. Tomorrow I will probably be getting the welding work done. I'm gonna be keeping a close eye on the subframe especially when I'm under the car as u suggested. When you cracked your subframe did u immediately notice?

No I was very young and my mechanic told me about it after a month or so when I needed some work done to it; live and learn. Good luck to you.

go to a place that can weld aluminum. u should be ok. get alignment too to see if caster was screwed

Thanks Kong. I was gonna do an alignment today because I got new suspension and rims but was really pressed for time. But Im gonna have it aligned friday I need it done.

Thats an easy weld fix. they could even add a gusset to the plate, but not really needed. subframe members are intact. thats a relatively simple fix
