Arrow RDX caliper covers on 4G TL calipers?

Trying to clean up my brakes a little, and i know the following is popular on the 3G TL and i'm wondering if anyone has tried it on the 4G, specifically for the rear calipers (although i've seen people try and fit them up front as well)

Rear on the 3G TL:

Just placed an order for two of the covers to test fit front/rear and post results. I'm considering the stoptech BBK but this will keep me busy until i potentially pull a trigger on that.

I like the fact they don't attempt to make it look like a BBK. I'm curious to see how this turns out as well. You'll probably want to paint your calipers black to get the best results.

Not sure as to why anyone hasnt tried getting in cahoots with Paul (NVA-AV6) to see if he can build a custom bracket to use with RL calipers for the 4G. Being that the RL is 5X120 you can even use the rotors off of it.

According to EBC the front OEM 4G rotors are 12.6"

AND the 2G RL front rotors are 12.6" as well.

if only people can take pictures and measure dimensions with both rotors next to each other.

The RL calipers are radial mount and can support rotors upto 14" in diameter, most accord, 3G TL guys (including myself) are using 12.8" rotors from an 05 Nissan 350Z with brembo brakes (track package), but we are only doing this as its the only rotors that we know with 5X114.3 lug pattern and proper thickness to work with the RL calipers.

I'd get in touch with paul and see if he can figure out something for you guys as this would be an easier swap for you 4G guys if the rotors are the same.

A set of calipers can be had for $100~$300 depending on where you look.

The RL would fit on the TSX and Accord with a bit of modification... but it would be sweet to fit it on the 4G... its weird why they gave the 3g brembos and not the 4G ....

The thread is a bit mixed on topic but I think the RL caliper on the TL was looked at before. One of the negative issues was the TL is reported to actually have a shorter braking distance than the RL. I think, don't quote me, it was 112 FT versus 106 FT. Obviously more to braking distance than the caliper but even though the RL caliper swap looks very cost effective and an appearance upgrade unless it actually improves braking performance I would consider it a ill conceived swap. I'm not up on the 3g swap but it would sound like that makes sense only when you are not running the Brembos.

Well the brakes are not brembo on the 4th gen TL. And anything that is Brembo is better than what we have now. The pads were probably changed and the way the car brakes to stop FASTER plus the suspension and tires. So stopping quicker doesn't mean we have better brakes. Brembos again will be better than what we have now and better pad choices.

Wish someone had a spare RL caliper and I would borrow it to take some pics and see how close or what it would need to mount it. Since my car is a daily I couldn't fully disassemble everything. But I have done big brake upgrades on many Z cars that I have owned and others.

Hope you don't mind!

Thread got derailed a bit but would be great if we could figure out of the RL or TL Type-S calipers fit up front. I have a set of Type S calipers i can mess around with next time the car is on the lift.

On the topic of the RDX covers i think they'd look great on the rear to start with, we'll see where the RL/TL-S front calipers go for the fronts!

Should have the covers middle of next week.

I am not so sure about this mod. When you look at the first pic, you can see that the cover is squished onto the caliper. RDX's have a 8mm bolt that secures the cover onto the caliper. You can see the hole for the bolt in the first pic. The tab with the hole is bent up to make it fit. The TL caliper does not have this hole and there is no way to create one. I'll pass on this mod.

Not a problem! I posted it for people to see and use! Glad someone is using it

If you guys have the small rear calipers like our 3G does, they would definitely fit.

However, these are not direct fit, you will have to bend the small tabs and then apply your RTV/Silicone to them and allow them to dry.

So far they are sticking fine but be very careful when pulling your wheels off, my brother took off my wheel and hit the cover, taking it right off my caliper. Had to reglue it.

Also, I've heard Window Weld works equal or better than RTV or silicone.

About the RL calipers, I'm sure you guys could make it fit. I am in the process of retrofitting them to my 3G TL. All I need is a custom bracket to mount it, new rotors (must be 12.6" or larger) brake pads and SS lines (optional).

You guys could use the RL rotors because they are 5x120 bolt pattern, 3G TLs have 5x114.3.

Seems like a lot of work for no real benefit. Just bite the bullet and get the BBK -OR- If you applied the same amount of time and a little more money into some SS brake lines and venting for those OEM brakes, stopping performance would come up and you'd get the best bag for your buck.

lol.. this looks pretty lame on the 4g.. considering that it is only for the rear..

i mean the though of "gluing" it on makes me cringe..

alexander.. can we get a full shot of the car from the sides?? i want to see how weird it looks to just have the rears lol..

Marco, OEM parts will be cheaper to maintain, I'm also working on the retrofit over a few months instead of throwing a shit ton of money into it at once.

Also, I have a base TL with the one pot calipers, upgrading to a larger rotor, 4 pot calipers, and SS lines will definitely have a benefit.

Nothing wrong with experimenting,i am sure all car guys and ladies have tried different things with their cars, even if it is just to see how it look.

Kudos for attempting this .
