What do I need to beat a stock 2004 G35 Sedan 5AT?

So I have these mods (as of next week all the j37 stuff will be done and I'm wondering what else would it take?

AEM Cold Air Intake
ATLP V2 J-Pipe
ATLP Hi-Flow Cat
XLR8 Base Duals
RV6 Hi-Flow PreCat x2
J37 Intake Manifold
J37 Intake Manifold Spacer
J37 Throttle Body
J37 Throttle Body Spacer

And 78lbs of weight reduction. Ideas? Thoughts? I make 225 at the wheel with all bolt ons outside of J37 stuff. Untuned

Ok I know you are excited, but dude 3 threads is the limit

Anyway, why not run against one and find out. Too many variables to determine and outcome.

I'd suggest the following:

1. Get a 6MT TL and transplant all your mods

2. Sell the TL and get a better platform that takes better to mods. Seriously, all those mods must have set you back a few grand and you're make 225hp at the wheels?

3. Stick a banana in the g35 tail pipe and then race.

Pretty sure that would be the end of my car if I run a 50 shot on a never-rebuilt stock transmission. Lmfao

Best advice. I'm shocked at only 225HP at the wheels. Sounds like auto plus timing being pulled to me. Maybe reset the ecu and throw in some 100 octane before racing to make sure it doesnt pull timing when you're dogging it.

The J37 parts haven't been installed yet

With all joking aside, yeah I agree keep it on the track. Also, OP probably hasn't reset the ECU.

No he doesn't need a 6spd. If he is willing to do the TL diet. Check out inaccurate and swoosh.

I got all the parts installed at JE Import Performance. I live in Maryland. I would hope they reset the ECU. The car definitely pulled harder after I had my PreCats installed by them. It feels about what I would expect for all these bolt ons. I actually feel the steering wheel damn near ripping out my hands now.

Should be close. The first gen G35 was a mid to upper 14 second car in stock, 5AT form. Some were even in the low 15's. G35 didn't really get quick until '07.

Check the various times here:

I raced a stock 2005 G35 Coupe Auto with my 08 TL-S Auto last year on the 1/8th and I beat him. My mods at the time were:

RV6 PCDs
RV6 Jpipe
PNP Runners
J37 Intake Manifold
ZDX Throttlebody
4" Intake
Stock Type S Exhaust
Hondata Tuned by DomGSR-T

Here's the video from my IG

I was hoping yours was a base model. You already make a pretty substantial amount of Hp more than I do stock as-is. I'm barely making your hp you had before you started modding.

What's the point? As soon as he hits 4th gear, little kids with big wheels will be passing him.

OP, I dunno if racing that car is a good idea, due to the transmission . It's a major road block for reliability and actually going fast becomes impossible due to losing more HP as compared to the 6MT and that bullshit 4th gear.

Rather than add more mods, it'd be most beneficial to get your car tuned to make the best of each mod. I think you'd have to get hondata, but don't quote me on that. I've accepted the TL as NOT being a fast car, long ago.

Im guessing you meant the 350z, and I call bullshit.

Let me guess, with upgraded tires, you'd be able to beat the Porsche 918, right?

But sure, I'm positive your automatic TL that weighs more and has less horsepower and torque than the 350z was waaaaay faster.

Well smart ass while he was spinning his wheels I was rolling along, and I knw how to drive period. But it was a 350 not 370. Remember the 04-05 TL We're faster than the newer models do your research.

1. There was no such thing as a 370z back in 2004. Try again.

2. So you won because he was a shitty driver. You didn't win because your car is faster.

3. Wtf are you talking about the 04-05s being faster than newer models? Are you referring to the HP numbers? Yeah, the 04-05 numbers were derived using an old system of calculating the power output and was revised in 06, by law, and as such power numbers "dropped". Nothing changed between 04-05 and 06+

4. Judging by your ignorance in only two posts, I'd stop right there if I were you.

The '04-05 TL was no faster than the '06-08.

I've been told by a few people I'll see some pretty big gains with the 3.7 IM and 3.7 TB installed alongside my other mods.

OH, so Manual Mode is like the equivalent of the M Button on BMW's? Moar HP?

It's not a different car in manual mode. The only thing different is YOU controlling which gear you're in and shift points.

The car is not faster, or slower. In fact, if you shift too late and bounce off the rev limiter for even a split second, you're slower.

Back in my stupid racing days, I'd just leave it in Auto unless it's a rolling start at like 45mph, then I'd leave it in 2. Beep, beep, beep. Then pop it back into D.

ECU shifts just fine.

"whole different car" has nothing to do with holding gears longer.
