'05 TL: Best mods for WHP gains?

So I have an 05 TL automatic and already have an exhaust and intake( Greddy Evo 2 and AEMV2) but was wondering what else i can add to make the most WHP gains. i want to be around 275-280whp or get the 0-60 to be in mid to low 5's (maybe even high 4's??). I know a s/c would get it there but that would be last resort plus i don't even have that kind of money atm. thanks guys

cams + tune +pray that tranny doesnt grenade.

seriously, if you're not going to cam or tune or throw some nitrous at it; its not even worth it.

without those things mentioned; you wont even be close to 270.

You're not getting an '05 automatic to 275-280 without going with some sort of F/I. And even a supercharger isn't getting you to 60 in the 4's.

If one is looking for 280whp, accounting for driveline losses that means you're wanting to be at somewhere at 300-320hp from the motor...yeah seeing as how stock base TL motors are rated at 258...it's gonna take forced induction to get there.

Not mention the tranny may grenade as someone mentioned...

^^

A 5AT TL would need to be mid 340's crank to show 280 at the wheels.

Sorry bud, but unfortunately FI is the only way unless you want to do a build with full bolt ons & cams. It's been done on the AT before by Gerzand, but he had cams. You're looking at $5-6K easy.

You're not going to get that high but there are a couple other mods you can do to get some more power.

You can our XLR8 V2 J-Pipe and our XLR8 Lightweight Crank Pulley. Both of these are on sale for the month of October.

They handle okay for FWD, I'd do suspension mods and make it more fun to drive vs spending a ton of money to be disappointed when you hit the throttle. A few bolt ons won't hurt but don't make it significantly quicker. I have a J pipe and intake, but I like my Koni shocks and Pilot Sport AS3 tires more. If you've ever driven a torquey car you won't think this car is fast unless you boost it.

If you do go FI, your transmission is going to explode eventually. 04-06 autos were always a bit volatile

Was the 335 chipped/modded? They really aren't that fast stock.

I am running J pipe, custom exhaust, Crank pulley, V2 CAI, TB Spacer and a 75 shot of NOS and I hit 290WHP. my car is a 06 AT.

Next is PNP Runners and Intake Manifold, RDX Injectors, PCD's, and MS3 for tuning as well as going to 100 shot. then I'll be in the 330's MAYBE 340's and still wont see 4's on the 0-60.

I had a built Mazdaspeed 6 330WHP AWD Turbo, Manual and i was pulling in the 5's. you need a different car if you want those numbers you are talking, or you need to waste a ton of money you will never get back!

Your Speed 6 couldn't get under 5 flat 0-60 with 330 at all four wheels? Any mid 13 second car with a decent launch is capable of 5 flat.
