Spending today/tonight/tomorrow in NYC. Safe?

I'm spending a today, tonight and tomorrow here in Long Island City. Staying in the Astoria area and attending a wedding at the Astoria World Manor.

Any info on what this area is like? I'm stuck with street parking near the Comfort Inn hotel which conveniently looks over a nasty ass garbage dump lol. I parked on the street behind a nice looking M5. I think it should be safe. I've got a viper remote start and alarm (2way) , and I threw on stockies with 2 locks before I left VA. Didn't leant any valuables in my car or anything.

Any info on this area? What do you guys think? I'm obviously not familiar...

You should be fine. As long as you have stocks with locks on them your good to go.

LOL it's not that bad at all. Astoria, has a crapload of expensive cars. You will be fine, but don't leave the obvious visible like a radar detector, money...etc.

Lol wheel locks are a joke. I can take them off just as fast as a regular nut.

Thanks guys. I wasn't really worried about people stealing my wheels but I've had experience in Ny with people breaking into cars just cause they have out of state plates

Woke up and the car was fine. The wedding venue had parking and "security" although my alarm went off during the wedding (key fob started vibrating) and when I ran out there the car that had parked next to me was exiting te lot. I assume the bastard door dinged me but I couldn't find any damage so I just went back inside.

Parked the car on the street that night and as I was walkin into the hotel I watched a cop car drive by and felt a More little at ease

On a side note, when the wedding ended I noticed a NBP Type-S leaving. It had painted black type-s wheels but I didn't notice any other mods.

Btw thanks for all the d-baggery in the thread; I was asking a simple question...don't see how that's hilarious but ok.

Do you take the same precautions (changing wheels, two locks) when you drive into DC?

NYC has changed dramatically over the last 20 years and most areas are just as safe as Fairfax.

lol the guy I bought my TL from drove the car up from Florida, but refused to meet me in Brooklyn by himself so we met in Jersey where I worked to drive in with him.

It's really not that bad here lol
