Seattle TL owners: part installation cost...?

I'm thinking really hard about buying some Comptech springs and I want to get some ideas on good cheap places to have them installed at? Obviously, besides at the dealer... they quoted about $800 just for the labor. So, any good shops to check out? I'm in the Ballard/Greenwood area, but the car has wheels, so I can drive elsewhere for the right mechanic. Thanks!

$800 to install springs at the dealership is the BIGGEST rip off I've seen... the dealership is trying to scam you. Most places will install your springs for less than $200 (highend) to as low as $100. I'm not familiar with the Ballard/Greenwood area.

Well I would never have a dealership do any work on my car unless is was free and under warranty... otherwise I know its gonna be a rip-off. Still, their inflated price had me curious if the TL, for some reason, made it more difficult to install the springs, and hence a slightly higher cost. But if other TL owners are paying $100-200 to have springs installed then thats something I can handle. I may try to grab the springs the dealership had, they were Comptech springs, about a 1" drop, and the set of 4 were $125, which seemed like a nice price.

the springs are cheap, but at 800, f that. Just call a race shop, they tend to be about 100-200 range for the whole install. I remember when I wanted to lower my car I called around and lowest I got was 150, but then I was like, f that, save me some money and did it myself.

Intec Racing in Kent. They installed my coilovers, did great work. It was less than $200.

You may want to rethink the Comptech springs. I have them right now and I honestly don't think they are low enough. But that's just me. If you're going to do it, I'd go a little lower.

I'm not as concerned about how low they go, versus stiffening up the suspension. I think 1" drop is about perfect for my car, as I also have 18" wheels, so it should look about right for my car. But since you have the springs, how much of an improvement did you get in cornering stability? I also want to get a rear sway bar installed, which I think will help a lot. I put a lot of stress on this car with lateral g's, and I think it has too much body roll for my likes...

If body roll is a big concern,i wouldn't set your expectations too high, the comptech springs ride very nice and give a overall descent stance, but there is noticeable body roll still left. also try gearhead technologies in kirkland.

Sorry, I'm waaaay late to respond, but thanks for the heads up! I'll check out Gearhead Technologies as well, when the money is there to have the work done. As is, with regards to body-roll, I'm slowly getting more and more used to it, but tightening it up would definitely help... any bit would help. I can't drop enough to get coilovers anytime soon, so it'll have to be babysteps in the meantime. Heck, I gotta get my brakes done before anything else! They squeak, and the car doesn't stop fast enough... not for my driving. All new rotors and pads all around... soon.

if your tryin to do brakes..just replacing rotors and pads i can do them for you as long as you pay for the materials. should only take a few hours as long as the rotor screws are broken already. i dont have the best tools to take those bad boys out. you wont need to bleed your brakes either so it should shave off some time.

i'd go for H&R sport springs and the H&R rear sway bar. i'm bias tho... i have H&R coilovers and the H&R rear sway bar. hella bias... again, H&R lowers a tad more than the Comptechs.
