Portland International Raceway: A new lease on life, or broken blacktop?
While listening to KEX radio on my way in this morning I heard an interview with an investor that who has his sights on Portland International Raceway (PIR). If it is going to be a reality that’s great news for race fans like me. This sounds familiar and I recall hearing that PIR has been courted by a private party in the past. However, this guy was talking about a public/private partnership, building a sound barrier, turning a profit in three years, and bringing tens of thousands of dollars into our economy. We shall see. I found a couple of stories on line.

Vera Katz is on the lobbying committee to promote the proposal for Pook!
She's the one that instigated the noise abatement restriction to the point that many race events could not participate years ago. IIRC anyway
I hope he succeeds wiht the purchase/partnership.

Not my favorite mayor. Let's hope the proposal for the wall doesn't include some colored LED lights or a decorative mural of race cars painted by 2nd graders. However, I would accept a statue of Katz, placed in the paddock area, and made of rubber from recycled tires, SO I COULD BURN IT!
