New to AcuraZine, but longtime Acura fanboy and gearhead
Hi All,
Happy to finally join. I've browsed AZ periodically for quite a few years, but only recently joined. I've driven many Acura sedans and coupes for a little over 2 decades, starting with an 86 Intergra coupe to my newest addition, a 22 TL(X) A-Spec, in Apex Blue.
I am a self proclaimed gearhead, having started that journey working in a Chevy dealer service department learning how to fix vehicles circa y2k. Eventually I took it to the next level by earning a mechanical engineering degree from Temple U, where I was on FSAE team and we designed and hand fabricated two open wheel space frame race cars. Since then I did a brief stint designing car parts, but quickly moved into the rail transit industry designing and fixing passenger subway vehicles, where I still currently work.
Suffice to say, I love doing all my own diagnostic, repair, and maintenance work on my cars (well, maybe I don't love it when they break, but I hate the thought of anyone else touching my car's nether regions). So, I'm looking forward to getting involved in the various tech forums, ya'll have.
I typically don't mod my cars heavily, but I do like a tasteful coilover and mild drop setup, sports brake kits, and tint. No shade to those that do extreme tuning and ECU jailbreaks, just trying to keep that stock appearance and reliability, while taking the handling and braking to the next level, which is where manufacturers usually skimp and there are large performance gains to made very easily. I mean, the average consumer seems to care mostly about hp and not much else anyway. Besides let's face it, if you're using, even the 2.0 turbo mill, to its limit on the street, you've likely just broken many laws.
Anyway's, that's me! Catch you on the forum sheets and in the streets!
