Once the OEM UV protection on the headlights has failed, oxidation will be an ongoing battle.

The headlights will need fairly routine upkeep to keep them perfect, unless you go through the process of removing them and reapplying a more permanent protective barrier such as clear coat paint (ie remove the lights, sand them down to remove oxidation, spray several coats of clear coat, then wet sand, compound, and polish). The more common method of restoring them by simply sanding (when needed) and then compounding, polishing, and applying a polymer sealant is a quick and easy solution, however it is not by any means a permanent solution.

Well if the professional sold it to you as a permanent type of repair, then I would ask them to redo the lights as the results are not what they claimed heh would be.

Otherwise it is pretty commonly understood that some level of headlight restoration will need to be done from time to time to keep the lights looking good after the OEM protection has degraded.
